Backstage with ‘Hamilton’s’ leading ladies

“Hamilton” — the hottest ticket on Broadway — may be known as a hip-hop musical about the Founding Fathers, but these leading ladies shine in the spotlight. Renée Elise Goldsberry and Phillipa Soo, who play Angelica Schuyler and Eliza Hamilton, respectively, talk to Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric about the hype surrounding “Hamilton” and take Couric on a backstage tour of the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

“[The show is] the perfect example of how theater is supposed to reflect who we are as an audience, as a community,” Soo said. “You can come from basically anywhere and find something about it that speaks to you.”

They also discussed #Ham4Ham, the mini-performances by cast members of “Hamilton” and other Broadway shows for fans who haven’t yet scored a ticket.

“It’s really a beautiful synergy and a way to keep the love going,” Goldsberry said. “Let’s share it with the world.”
