He said, “From Russia’s standpoint, every time they intervene in international affairs that puts them in a position to be a power player, well then, they are winning.” On whether Vladimir Putin and the Russians are laughing at the U.S., he said, “They may be giggling a little bit.”

McRaven disagreed with President Trump’s tweet in which the president said the investigation is “led by some very bad and conflicted people!” On the potential evidence of obstruction of justice by Trump, McRaven said, “It’s significant for us as Americans.” He also said there’s a need for civility surrounding the investigation.
