To promote his talk show’s annual residency in Brooklyn next month, Jimmy Kimmel on Monday asked kids in New York and Los Angeles about which city they thought was the funniest, making the kids tell jokes to prove it.

A clear winner doesn’t seem to emerge in the video clip from “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” but the impromptu street competition did show that knock-knock jokes can still kill on both coasts.
