Shala Monroque's brave fashion choices and the elegant way in which she pulls them off has catapulted her onto one of New York Magazine's four Fall fashion covers and into icon status.

The former editor of Pop Magazine and street-style sensation has been rubbing Manolos with the fashion elite for some time now. Her edgy and daring sense of style--mixing prints, playing with proportions, donning larger than life accessories and wearing bold colors--has been well documented in the pages of the top fashion magazines, society publications (she is dating art dealer extraordinaire Larry Gagosian) and on countless websites. Yet somehow she has managed to stay under the radar for most.

Monroque's fashion feats did not, however, escape the sight of Miuccia Prada who has used the St. Lucian beauty as a muse and deemed her style "a gift."

“I’ve always felt I could be brave with my clothes and I love experimenting with different styles,” Monroque told Vogue Australia.

And brave she is. Not many fashionistas can elegantly pull off a turban with a ball gown, a chic denim skirt while riding a bike and look surprisingly pulled together in a Nasa spacesuit (just in case she ever gets invited to a party on the Moon).
