Rose Parade Route, Street Closures, Parking Options

The 124th Rose Parade will kick off Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2013 at 8 a.m. PST.

On Monday morning, CBS News reported that eager spectators have already begun to nab their favored spots along the parade's 5.5 mile route in Pasadena.

“It’s lots of fun and we have family members who are gonna do shifts so we’re not going to be here all day and the kids enjoy it so we come every year,” paradegoer Isabel Hodge told CBS News early Monday.

As the parade's website notes, those who will be fortunate enough to get a spot along the parade's route will be "treated to a two-hour parade of magnificent floral floats, talented marching bands, and high-stepping equestrians."

The website continues:

The five-and-a-half mile Rose Parade route begins at the corner of Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena. The parade travels north on Orange Grove at a leisurely 2.5-mile per hour pace and then turns east onto Colorado Boulevard where the majority of the parade takes place. At the end of the route, the parade turns north onto Sierra Madre Boulevard and ends at Sierra Madre and Villa Street.

Curbside viewing space for the parade is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Overnight camping on the street will be permitted.

For those planning to drive during, before or after the parade, the city of Pasadena has released the following list of street closures.

Via CBS News:

According to Patch, there will be several options -- both in private and public lots -- for parking near the parade.

Those who can't make it to Pasadena to watch the parade can always catch the festivities on TV. The parade will be broadcast on ABC, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, KTLA, NBC, RFD-TV and Univision.
