Country crooner Randy Travis is trying really, really hard to embody a sad country song. TMZ reports that the troubled songwriter was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of a DWI after crashing his car into the barricades of an off-road construction site. He also refused to take a breathalyzer test, aggressively verbally threatened the cops and -- here's the chorus line -- was completely nude at the scene of the car crash.
According to TMZ, Travis threatened to shoot and kill the police who arrested him. A mugshot of Travis shows him with cuts and scrapes on his forehead and nose and what appears to be a black eye.
The incident, which took place just before midnight, is not Travis' first brush with the law, of course. The 53-year-old was arrested in February by Texas police for public intoxication. A video of Travis during the arrest was released showing the singer slurring his words. He later released a statement apologizing for "what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl."
It's been a difficult year for the country music legend. In May, Travis countersued his ex-wife and former manager of 30 years, Elizabeth Travis, for leaking confidential information with the intent of sabotaging his career. She had originally filed a lawsuit against him for breach of contract one month prior, in April. The couple divorced in 2010.
