Melissa Harris-Perry Mourns Maya Angelou
When she was a sophomore at Wake Forest University, Melissa Harris-Perry took a course taught by Maya Angelou, who was a professor at the North Carolina college.
Around 20 years later, she spoke to Angelou for her MSNBC show, and told the celebrated writer what she had learned from her when she was young.
"Iremember that one of the key lessons was...courage is the most important virtue, because without it, nothing else can be practiced consistently," she said.
"Your memory is good," Angelou replied.

"I've said it to myself over and over for twenty years," Harris-Perry said.
On Wednesday, Harris-Perry mourned the death of her former teacher:
