Twitter Users Call B.S. On Donald Trump’s Latest Coronavirus Spin
Social media users didn’t buy President Donald Trump’s latest attempt to spin the narrative on the coronavirus crisis.
“Coronavirus deaths are way down,” Trump boasted on Twitter late Thursday, as the United States saw yet another record spike in daily confirmed cases of the virus.
Trump also falsely claimed the mortality rate in the United States is “one of the lowest in the World” and the economy is “roaring back and will NOT be shut down.” ″‘Embers’ or flare ups will be put out, as necessary,” he added.
Coronavirus deaths are way down. Mortality rate is one of the lowest in the World. Our Economy is roaring back and will NOT be shut down. “Embers” or flare ups will be put out, as necessary!

Many people on Twitter pointed out how the surge in infections that followed many states’ easing of lockdown restrictions will likely translate into an increased death toll in the next month.
Others noted that Trump has downplayed the seriousness of the pandemic from the start, allowing the virus to claim more lives.
Deaths lag cases. And you’re a terrible person

125,000+ *confirmed* dead, but bookmarking this tweet for 2-4 weeks: deaths lag behind infections by a few weeks.

Deaths are a lagging indicator. Cases spiking now means deaths increase later. (Hopefully not!) https://t.co/JUbOMFSVUF

Coronavirus deaths are not way down they are increasing and more than 120,000 Americans have perished. It wasn’t too long ago that Trump said we’d have zero deaths and zero cases and that the virus would go away by summer. He is nothing but a total and incompetent buffoon.

What in the freaking misinformation is this https://t.co/KP3GtHTEJY

COVID deaths are indeed down in the US, as new cases had come down. But now new cases are rising again, and deaths will rise again with a 2-3 week lag. 11% fatality rate of those who get infected, 126,000 deaths in the US so far. Not something to be minimised or wished away. https://t.co/kdl8bNv69h pic.twitter.com/JYApaSIUX6

The truth is, you have the 9th highest mortality rate world wide and hospital admission in states like Texas and Florida for example are drastically increasing.
You will see increased death rates in about 2 to 6 weeks, when the new cases reach critical infection times. https://t.co/kc4Ux8QztH— Docm77 (@docm77) June 26, 2020
We are only 3% of the world’s population. We have 25% of the worlds coronavirus cases and deaths. Arizona and Texas are pausing reopening with records number of new cases. Death rates will follow the uptick in cases. It’s now around 5%. You lie and Americans die. Resign. pic.twitter.com/sm2tpSORRG

120K American citizens have died from #coronavirus due to Donald Trump’s negligence and incompetence. That’s the opposite of “way down.” 😳

Deaths are down, tests are up and tests are down and deaths are really low and deaths are way down and tests are like way, way up and deaths are downer than we’ve ever seen before and tests are higher and better and deaths are lower and lower and deaths are like way, way lower.
