Daisy Fuentes Is Back To Hosting
After nearly 20 years far from the Hispanic television scene, Daisy Fuentes returns to host "La Voz Kids" along with TV presenter Jorge Bernal.
The Telemundo production, expected to debut on Sunday May 5, will be a new version of NBC’s reality television singing competition “The Voice”, but focused on finding talented Latino child singers.
Although Fuentes admits she had received many offers in the past, and was eager to work more in Spanish, in an exclusive interview with The Huffington Post she confesses it wasn’t until today that she found a project as "honest" as this one, something that is not found often in television.

What tempted you to be part of "La Voz Kids" and made you return to the Latino market?
I was a big fan of "The Voice." I think it's the best reality show on television today, and when you add this other factor of children ranging from 7-14 years, and take the production to another level, it was easy to make the decision.
How does it feel to return to the Latin market after 20 years?
I’ve been meaning to return for a long time. I always wanted to return to Hispanic television, and I haven’t made any personal projects since my days on MTV. Being able to be part of an equally important production so many years later, I think it's [an opportunity] I could not pass.
When children are involved many presenters cannot avoid compromising their feelings, how do you plan to handle it?
It is very beautiful. I do not know how to do it because you are a human and you are working with children who are very honest, very real, and their hearts teach you everything they feel and you feel it with them. It is very cute.
How was shooting the first episode that will be aired on Sunday?
We recorded the selection part and it is very intense because you fell in love with the little ones. As the show progresses you get to know the children and their families, and you start having more connection to them, and it makes it more difficult.
What can people expect from the show?
They will be introduced to a show that when they start watching it they won’t be able to let it go. It's a format that does not exist, it is very original, if you like music or not, or you like kids or not. It's something we all identify with; it will bring up all kinds of emotions. There will be talent, competition and big stars, a lot of heart...
Can you give us any more details in advance?
All the children have caught my attention, there were kids who you thought were going to be very good, and they couldn’t control their nerves because they were too young. Others look very nervous, very shy, barely speak, but take the stage and look like adults who have spent a lifetime [singing], it is really surprising. Those are things that could have never been planned. You do not know what the coaches are thinking, you do not know their strategies, what they are looking for, and suddenly you're surprised with the children they choose and the ones they don’t. It is a very honest show.
How would you define each one of the coaches (singers Paulina Rubio, Prince Royce y Roberto Tapia)?
They are all stars, music professionals, and all of them have different styles. It is an honor to work with them.
