Brie Larson is quickly climbing the Hollywood ranks.

The actor drew praise for her role as the sister of Amy Schumer's character in summer blockbuster "Trainwreck" and is now the subject of Oscar buzz for her lead turn in the new film "Room." But while some might call Larson the industry's new "it girl," the star told CBS News she isn't so on board with the term.

“But what is ‘it’? There is no ‘it!’” Larson said in the interview. “And who was ‘it’ before ‘it’? And when does ‘it’ go away? When did I get ‘it’? Who’s going to take ‘it’? It’s so weird.”

“I think it’s a really funny term,” she continued. “I’m just a person. I’m not anything!”

In an interview with HuffPost Live in the fall, Larson opened up about the surprising way she learned she got the "Trainwreck" role that helped accelerated her climb to the A-list.

"Judd [Apatow] had called me on my cell phone -- which I still don't know how he had my number -- but he called me and said he was working on a movie with Amy and asked if I wanted to come have lunch with him," she said. "I didn't really know what it meant."

Eventually, she figured out they wanted her to be in the film.

"There was no formal thing [because] there's no airs," she said. "[Amy's] in her daily life [in a] T-shirt, no makeup, hair in a ponytail, but will make you pee your pants with laughter."
