There’s nothing better than sharing a holiday meal with loved ones, digging into home-cooked dishes and tossing back festive drinks. But come the next morning, there’s a good chance you wake up feeling less than thankful. “Between the heavy food, sugar, salt, and alcohol, many us wake up feeling bloated, tired, and in need of a reboot,” celebrity nutritionist Shira Lenchewski, RD, tells Yahoo Health.

If you think a Ross Geller-worthy leftovers sandwich will make it go away, think again — what you really need are super-charged ingredients that pack a nutritional punch. And while a smoothie can’t technically remove toxins from your body, it can boost your digestive system, give you much-needed blast of nutrients after going overboard the night before.

So the next morning (or that night, if you’re already feeling the pain), whip up this elixir crafted by Shira that’ll leave you feeling better in no time (so you can enjoy another slice of pie).

Ingredients:

2 cups kale, loosely packed
1 banana, frozen and peeled
1 tablespoon ginger, peeled and finely grated
1 cup unsweetened nut milk
1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

Blitz in a high-speed blender until creamy. Drink immediately.

Why It’s Good For You:

Kale is loaded with chlorophyll, a potent antioxidant, says Lenchewski. And bananas, which are loaded with potassium, can help counteract the puffiness that comes with excess sodium. Both ginger and cinnamon have strong anti-inflammatory and digestion-promoting properties to nix gas and bloat, while fiber from the flax seeds can speed up your body’s elimination process, helping you feel better in no time.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly defined the antioxidant chlorophyll. It also attributed the incorrect fact to Shira Lenchewski.
