Nobody should feel self-conscious about buying women’s sanitary items — though probably just about every woman can say that she has.

Now, Lauren Jovanović is out to change that. The Australian went to the supermarket Coles, a popular supermarket chain Down Under, to buy sanitary items. Her response from the cashier was "have you tried Viva paper towels? I’ve heard they’re pretty absorbent,“ so Jocanović took both him and the retailer to task on Coles’ Facebook page.

Her commentary on the checkout boys’ remarks addressed her emotions, saying “Usually I am all for a good sense of humour, however when a woman is menstruating, she becomes a scary, enraged and frustrated being, and certainly does not want to hear about alternative ways to contain or absorb the blood that is mercilessly flowing out of her nether regions.”

Sound familiar?

That’s because this “enraged and frustrated” feeling is associated with premenstrual syndrome, which varies in different women. Tension, anxiety, and mood swings are all symptoms, according to Mayo Clinic.

While this cashier was completely out of bounds with his unwarranted and immature commentary, this feeling women get during their period can be worked on as well! Alisa Vitti, HHC, previously shared in her Yahoo Health column that “outsmarting stress” with daily rituals and schedules can help keep anxiety down.

In the meantime, Coles: Please implement better customer service training to your employees — no woman wants to hear anything close to that while buying her tampons and pads.
