"I lost my son, he's never coming back," Daunte Wright's father, Aubrey Wright, told ABC News' Robin Roberts in an exclusive interview Tuesday on "Good Morning America." Daunte Wright was driving in Brooklyn Center, about 10 miles northwest of Minneapolis, when he was stopped by police on Sunday afternoon.
Throughout my life, I have suffered regular bouts of depression and have learned to coexist with my diagnosis. With medication and therapy, I have managed to keep my symptoms manageable. Until now, I haven't felt the need to share too many details of my illness with friends and family or to reach out for help to anyone who wasn't a mental health professional.
Violence and harassment against Asian Americans continue to make national headlines -- but experts and advocates say some of those attacks may never be tried as hate crimes. Without solid evidence of hate speech to indicate a perpetrator's motivation, seemingly random attacks against people from marginalized communities may instead be pursued as traditional criminal offenses, creating a problem with combating hate crimes. Hate crimes can be determined by a standalone law describing a specific act as a hate crime, or, can be a traditional criminal offense with some element of bias, according to the FBI on its website.

An attack on one of Iran's most sensitive nuclear facilities has threatened to unravel President Joe Biden's diplomatic efforts to revive the Iran nuclear deal -- and to inflame tensions in a region already on edge. The sabotage on Iran's underground site Natanz was first reported by Iranian state media Sunday, with its nuclear chief calling it an act of "nuclear terrorism." While the full details are unknown, Natanz was reported to have experienced a blackout, allegedly the result of a cyber attack on its electrical grid.
"While I'm very hopeful that the number of 'Long COVID' patients decreases dramatically over time, I do expect that there will be a smaller subset of people that continues to have some lingering issues over the next few years," Benjamin Abramoff, Director of Penn Medicine's Post-COVID Assessment and Recovery Clinic, told ABC News. Dr. Georgia Lea, a neurologist who lives in New Orleans, counts herself among the unlucky Americans who suffer from lingering symptoms of the virus. The incident unfolded around 2 p.m. local time, when officers initiated a stop for an expired registration tag on a vehicle in the city in Minnesota's Hennepin County, about 10 miles northwest of Minneapolis.
Two new British studies suggest that the B.1.1.7 variant is more transmissible than the original COVID-19 variants; however, it does not appear to be more deadly or cause more severe symptoms. One of the studies, published in The Lancet Public Health, also reported a low rate of reinfection with B.1.1.7 in those who have recovered from previous COVID infections. As was predicted, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now reporting the B.1.1.7 strain to be the most dominant variant in the U.S., accounting for over 30% of cases in some states.

The jury has heard extensively about George Floyd's drug addiction, but until Monday little had been shared to humanize the man prosecutors say died in the most inhumane way. Prosecutors winding down their murder case against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, called Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, to the witness stand to provide what is known in Minnesota as "spark of life doctrine" testimony. Stemming from a 1985 state Supreme Court case, Minnesota is rare in permitting such personal and often emotional testimony from loved ones of an alleged crime victim in advance of a verdict.
Former House Speaker John Boehner on Monday kept up his harsh criticism of President Donald Trump's role in the Jan. 6 riots, saying he "abused" the trust voters placed in him. Boehner, who resigned his post in 2015 citing turmoil in the Republican Party, has repeatedly criticized Trump and fellow Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in recent appearances promoting a new book, including Monday on ABC's "The View." The saddest part is the president abused the loyalty and the trust that voters placed in him by perpetuating this noise.
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, was not among the invited guests at the White House Monday, questioned whether such promises are mere lip service. "The question before us is this: is this outreach the beginning of a true negotiation or is the administration so wedded to the details of its plan, including its exorbitant top line, that these are just courtesy briefings?" Collins said in a statement.
