Tracy Morgan is headed back to the silver screen for his first film since recovering from his June 2014 accident.
According to The Wrap, Morgan is in negotiations to join actors Ice Cube and Charlie Day in the comedy “Fist Fight.”
The role would be Morgan’s first since a car crash in June 2014 seriously injured Morgan and killed James McNair, a fellow comedian and close friend of Morgan.
“Fist Fight” is a comedy written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux. Richie Keen will direct. The movie centers around two high school teachers (Cube and Day) who wind up in a fist fight.
“Breaking Bad” alum Dean Norris will play the school’s principal and Jillian Bell of “22 Jump Street” fame will play a guidance counselor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morgan would play the school’s coach.
The “30 Rock” alum had an emotional return to the stage during the Emmys on Sunday night, where he presented the award for Best Drama Series.
Morgan received a standing ovation as he spoke about his recovery.
“Last year Jimmy Kimmel said on this stage, ‘We’ll see you back here next year’ … Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors, the support of my family and my beautiful new wife, I’m here standing on my own two feet,” said Morgan.
Morgan will continue his comeback when he hosts Saturday Night Live on Oct. 17.
