Katy Perry was unable to attend the2024 Met Gala, but this was news to her mother, who was fooled by photos partly generated by using artificial intelligence that circulated online of the pop star. Perry shared an Instagram post Monday that included the AI-edited photos of her at the annual star-studded benefit, as well as a screenshot of a confused text message from her mother. The two fabricated images of Perry showed the singer wearing outfits fashioned to the theme of the Met Gala "The Garden of Time."
President Joe Biden denounced what he called a "ferocious surge" of antisemitism in America and the atrocities committed by Hamas during its Oct. 7 attack on Israel in a speech at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday. "Never again simply translated for me means never forget," Biden said before a crowd of Holocaust survivors, Jewish Americans and lawmakers gathered in Emancipation Hall. "Here we are not 75 years later but just seven and a half months later, and people are already forgetting," Biden said.
At least 17 tornadoes were reported in seven states overnight into Tuesday morning, as the tornado threat continues Wednesday for parts of the country. The twisters were reported in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and South Dakota. One of the hardest-hit areas in the storm was Barnsdall, Oklahoma, north of Tulsa.

Ahead of her meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shared her list of demands for the speaker amid her push to oust him from the House's top job. TikTok and its Chinese parent company ByteDance filed a lawsuit against the federal government Tuesday over what it called an "unconstitutional" potential ban of the social media platform in the United States. In the lawsuit, TikTok and ByteDance claim the law signed by President Joe Biden last month -- which would force the company to sell the platform to a non-Chinese company in nine to 12 months or face a ban in the U.S. -- violates users' First Amendment rights. "For the first time in history, Congress has enacted a law that subjects a single, named speech platform to a permanent, nationwide ban, and bars every American from participating in a unique online community with more than 1 billion people worldwide," the company said in its 65-page petition filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Former President Donald Trump is on trial in New York City, where he is facing felony charges related to a 2016 hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump last April pleaded not guilty to a 34-count indictment charging him with falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment his then-attorney Michael Cohen made to Daniels in order to boost his electoral prospects in the 2016 presidential election. Stormy Daniels testified that she initially authorized her agent Gina Rodriguez to shop around her story in 2016.
A security guard working at Drake's mansion in Toronto was shot while outside the residence early Tuesday, police said. The male security guard was shot while standing outside the gate of the residence at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to Inspector Paul Krawczyk with the Toronto Police Service's Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force. The security guard was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and remains hospitalized in serious condition, Krawczyk said.

Growing up in Louisiana, in the bayous of the Mississippi River, identical twins Jocynita "Jo" Banner and Joyceia "Joy" Banner always heard stories from their grandmother Grace, who would tell them about their enslaved ancestors and their history of fighting back at the very plantation the two women now own. "I know that she is really proud," Jo Banner said, referring to her grandmother. The Banner twins are the founders of The Descendants Project, a nonprofit that fights for historic and cultural preservation for descendants of enslaved people.
The double murder trial of Richard Allen -- accused of killing two teenage girls in Delphi, Indiana, in 2017 -- has been delayed several months, less than a week before jury selection was to begin. In a pretrial motions hearing Tuesday morning, defense attorneys for Allen withdrew their motion for a speedy trial, citing concerns over having enough time to present their case. Stormy Daniels, one of the prosecutor's star witnesses, is scheduled to take the stand Tuesday, sources told ABC News. The decision to call Daniels, who acted in adult films, as a witness allows the jury to hear from the woman at the center of former President Donald Trump's criminal trial. Prosecutors argue that Trump -- still reeling from the release of the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape in October 2016 -- orchestrated a last-minute $130,000 hush money payment through his then-lawyer Michael Cohen in exchange for Daniels' silence about an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump, which the former president has denied took place.
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will not see his father King Charles III while he is in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, ABC News has confirmed. A spokesperson for the duke told ABC News on Tuesday that Charles' schedule does not allow time for him to see his younger son, who now lives in the United States. "It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty's full programme," the spokesperson said of a meeting between Harry and Charles.

Two colonels in Ukraine's State Protection Service were identified as part of a group planning to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday. The colonels, who have been detained but not yet been publicly identified, were recruited by the Russian Federal Security Service, known as the FSB, Ukraine said. "Their mission involved identifying military personnel within Zelenskyy's security detail capable of abducting and assassinating him," Ukraine's State Protection Service, or SBU, said.
Jacque Berry and her daughter, Breanna Berry, are Black women who say they have been surrounded by cancer all their lives. "My great-grandmother had breast cancer," Breanna Berry, 30, told "Good Morning America." "I remember when I was like 10 and she'd say, 'Sweetie, go get me some tissue to stuff in my bra.' Years later, Breanna Berry said she watched as a friend, also a Black woman, was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 28, and as her father died after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, a diagnosis she said took over one year as his symptoms were misdiagnosed.
Jeremy Gentry, a 48-year-old man from Fruitland, Maryland, has been charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment after Beatrice Kay Gentry, 68, was found dead inside their home on the 200 block of Sand Castle Boulevard, according to the Maryland State Police. Police were first alerted to the incident shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday when the Fruitland Police Department and emergency medical service personnel were dispatched to the residence on regarding a report of “an unconscious woman,” according to the Maryland State Police. The deceased was subsequently identified as Beatrice Kay Gentry who shared the home with her son, Jeremy Gentry, police said.
A series of bomb threats targeting annual Pride events in Montana were deemed to be hoaxes “used to try to dissuade people from participating” in the LGBTQ+ celebrations, police say. Two threats were made on Saturday and Sunday when the Bozeman Police Department investigated two bomb threats that “occurred within the city limits of Bozeman,” according to a statement from the Bozeman Police Department. Two other similar bomb threats were received by authorities on Friday.
