These Kids Reading to Shelter Cats Is Absolute Purr-Fection

What happens when you mix whiskers with whimsical storytelling? Absolute purr-fection. The “Book Buddies” program at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Pa., lets children read to the sheltered cats, which makes for an all-around adorable win-win. “It’s been incredible,” Beth Ireland, the shelter’s marketing and communications director, told GoodMorningAmerica.com. Not only are the kids encouraged to read, but the cats are also comforted. “Sometimes [the cats] want to play and sometimes they want to lay and be pet,” Ireland said of the friendly felines. Take a look at the literary-loving cats and kids in action.
