A suspect has been taken into custody following reports of a shooting at a Kroger grocery store just outside of Cincinnati, according to police. The investigation is ongoing, police said, urging the public to avoid the area. Authorities were dispatched to the Kroger on Springdale Road just before 4:00 p.m. ET, according to the Colerain Police Department.
A massive volcanic eruption at the Sundhnúkur crater in Iceland on Wednesday spewed lava over 160 feet into the air, officials announced. The crater is located on the Reykjanes peninsula in southwestern Iceland, where authorities evacuated the seaside town of Grindavík, including the country's biggest tourist attraction, the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. Most of the 4,000 residents of Grindavik were permanently evacuated in November 2023 due to ongoing volcanic activity.

Nearly two decades after the launch of the first HPV vaccine, mounting evidence shows that people who got vaccinated are dramatically less likely to develop HPV-related cancers in adulthood. HPV is a common viral infection that causes an estimated 690,000 cases of cancer every year across the globe, according to researchers from the World Health Organization. The virus infects specific tissues, predisposing patients to develop cancers – including cervical, anal, and head and neck cancer.

All charges have been dismissed against star golfer Scottie Scheffler, who was arrested while in Louisville, Kentucky, for the PGA Championship earlier this month. Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell addressed the court Wednesday on a motion to dismiss the charges after he said his office conducted a "thorough" review of the case and could not proceed with the prosecution. Nissan has issued a “do not drive” warning for 83,920 vehicles from model years 2002-2006 with recalled Takata airbags. The vehicles were already subject to open Takata airbag recalls from 2020. A vehicle's frontal passenger airbag inflators may explode due to “propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling,” according to the recall notices from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
A new study is shedding more light on the importance of exposing kids to peanut products at a young age to help reduce the risk of an allergy later in life. The study, led by the National Institutes of Health's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and published Tuesday, found feeding kids peanut products, like thinned peanut butter, regularly from infancy to the age of 5, was associated with a 71% decrease in the rate of peanut allergy among adolescents. According to the study, a child exposed to peanut products by six months of age has a 75% reduced risk of having a peanut allergy by age 5, and by age 12, that child is four times less likely to develop a peanut allergy.
