More than 2 million infant rockers and swings have been recalled due to entanglement and strangulation hazards, leading to at least one death. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall Monday of certain 4moms MamaRoo Baby Swings and RockaRoo Baby Rockers, which were sold at Target and Best Buy. When the swing or rocker is not in use their restraint straps can dangle below the seat and non-occupant crawling infants can become entangled in the straps, posing a strangulation hazard, according to the CPSC.
As monkeypox continues to spread across the U.S., the number of children infected with the virus is growing as well. At least six children have tested positive for monkeypox since July, including a child in Maine and two each in Indiana and California. Children under the age of 8 are among those whom the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers at "increased risk" for developing more severe illness if infected with monkeypox, along with pregnant people, people who are immunocompromised and those who have a history of atopic dermatitis or eczema.
A man was killed during a youth football game in Lancaster, Texas, Saturday night after an argument escalated into a shooting, according to police. Witnesses told Lancaster police that the coaching staff and officials had gotten into a disagreement that became physical, leading to the shooting. Lancaster police said they're searching for Yaqub Salik Talib, the brother of former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
American singer-songwriter R. Kelly is facing federal child pornography and obstruction charges as jury selection begins Monday in his hometown of Chicago. Kelly, 55, is accused of engaging in sex acts with five minors and recording some of the abuse on multiple videos. Two former employees of Kelly's music business, Derrel McDavid and Milton "June" Brown, are co-defendants in the federal trial.
A new heat wave is building in the South and West as flash flooding targets several Western states. Heat advisories are in effect across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The heat index -- what a temperature feels like -- is forecast Monday to jump to a sweltering 106 degrees in Jackson, Mississippi; 100 in New Orleans and Houston; 103 in Dallas; and 104 in Austin, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Oklahoma City.
Tributes have begun pouring in for actress Anne Heche. The actress, who suffered serious injuries after a fiery car crash in Los Angeles last week, was declared brain dead Thursday night but was kept on life support for organ donation, her representative said Friday. Heche's family released a statement Friday confirming that she had died and that she had chosen to donate her organs.
A 1,300-pound walrus that became a popular attraction in Norway in recent weeks was euthanized on Sunday, after officials concluded the marine mammal posed a risk to humans. Increasingly large crowds of people came to the Oslo Fjord to see the female walrus, named Freya, who climbed onto small boats to sunbathe. After warning the public to stay away, the Norwegian government made the decision to have Freya put down early Sunday.
The Iranian government on Monday denied that its officials were responsible for the attack on Salman Rushdie, saying the government hadn’t previously heard of the man who allegedly stabbed the author on Friday. "No one has the right to accuse Iran," Nasser Kanaani, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said in his weekly press conference on Monday, adding that Iran was not previously aware of the alleged attacker. "We know nothing about this person more than what we heard from the American media,” Kanaani said.
Since 1989, when the Iranian supreme leader of the time, Ayatollah Khomeini, issued an apostasy fatwa against the Indian-British Salman Rushdie, it has not been just the "The Satanic Verses" author who has been threatened and attacked. Rushdie was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times in New York on Friday, about 33 years after the fatwa was issued. Ettore Capriolo, an English literature expert who had translated "The Satanic Verses" into Italian, was stabbed multiple times on July 4, 1991, in Milan, Italy.
Administration sources familiar with the investigation tell ABC News the amount and the sensitivity of confidential, secret and top-secret documents allegedly discovered in the Mar-a-Lago search raise critical national security questions that must be urgently addressed. Officials acknowledged these critical questions need to be addressed because the material, in theory, would be of great value to foreign adversaries and even allies. The FBI warrant and inventory allege that 11 sets of sensitive information were recovered during the Mar-a-Lago search -- including confidential, secret and top-secret documents.
When Katie Quinonez, the executive director of an abortion clinic in West Virginia, saw the Supreme Court decision that overturned the federal guarantee of the right to an abortion, the first word she uttered was an obscenity. The nonprofit Women's Health Center of West Virginia, located in Charleston, faced the immediate risk of prosecution under a state abortion ban from 1882, so Quinonez and a coworker made 60 calls to patients canceling procedures scheduled for the ensuing three weeks, said Quinonez. Not only did the Supreme Court decision stop the clinic from providing abortions, but it delivered a crushing blow to the nonprofit health center's financial stability, Quinonez said.

A Chicago toddler who was born with a one-in-a-million condition that left him without part of his right leg is now walking thanks to a prosthetic leg. Dakari Miranda, who will turn 2 this fall, took his first steps this month, less than eight months after undergoing an hours-long surgery to have most of his right leg amputated. Dakari was born without a tibia, or shinbone, in his right leg, a rare condition known as tibial hemimelia.
Faith Mata threw Sunday's first pitch at the Houston Astros game in honor of her sister, Tess, 10, who was killed in the devastating shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde in May. The fourth grader had been saving money to take her family to a game at Minute Maid Park to see her favorite player, Jose Altuve. "We wanted them to be treated like royalty," Astros Foundation Executive Director Paula Harris told ABC News when describing what the team has dubbed "Uvalde Strong Day." The foundation gave away thousands of tickets and sent buses to pick up 500 Uvalde residents, who either were directly affected by or responded to the tragedy, to shuttle them to Houston.
Police in Texas have arrested a 17-year-old suspect in the murder of Yolanda N'Gaojia, officials said in a press release. In addition to murder, Weston was charged with the unlicensed carrying of a weapon, and that bond was set at $5,000. Police said when they responded to the scene at Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories Cemetery in March, they found two people with gunshot wounds.
The gun used in the fatal shooting on the "Rust" movie set could not have been fired without pulling the trigger, according to an FBI forensic report obtained Friday by ABC News. Actor Alec Baldwin shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Western, which he was producing and starring in, last year. The actor believed he was handling a "cold gun" -- one without live ammunition -- when it went off and a live bullet struck Hutchins, killing her.
Eight people, including at least five Americans, were wounded when a gunman opened fire on a bus in Jerusalem early Sunday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said. "Last night, a terrorist shot at a bus in Jerusalem wounding eight people, including a pregnant 30-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man who are in critical care," the ministry said on Twitter. At least five U.S. citizens were injured in the attack, a U.S. Embassy spokesperson confirmed to ABC News.
