A Tacoma Police Department officer who struck at least one pedestrian with his patrol car while trying to clear a crowded scene has been placed on administrative leave. Officers responded to the intersection of South 9th Street and Pacific Avenue in Tacoma around 6 p.m. Saturday night after receiving "numerous reports" of an incident that was occurring there, according to a police press release. When authorities arrived, there were several vehicles and about 100 people blocking the intersection, police said, but did not provide additional details on the incident.
Dominion Voting Systems on Monday sued Rudy Giuliani, accusing former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney of carrying out “defamatory falsehoods” about Dominion in part to enrich himself through legal fees and his podcast. “Although he was unwilling to make false election fraud claims about Dominion and its voting machines in a court of law because he knew those allegations are false, he and his allies manufactured and disseminated the 'Big Lie,' which foreseeably went viral and deceived millions of people into believing that Dominion had stolen their votes and fixed the election,” the lawsuit said. The lawsuit targets Giuliani but mentioned his “allies” -- including lawyer Sidney Powell, Lou Dobbs, Fox News, Fox Business, Newsmax, One America News Network (“OAN”) and The Epoch Times -- that assisted in peddling false claims about the election and the company.

Former Trump White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has officially announced she's running for governor of Arkansas in 2022 -- in what's slated to become one of the first tests of how much influence former President Donald Trump maintains over the Republican Party versus the GOP establishment. Sanders announced her run in a nearly eight-minute-long campaign video posted to her Twitter feed Monday morning, appearing to target disgruntled Trump supporters in her pitch. Sanders touted her tenure in the Trump administration and listed a few campaign promises throughout the video, including prohibiting sanctuary cities, expanding school choice, lowering income taxes and fighting back against "radical left" environmental policies like the Green New Deal.

A 15-year-old girl was stabbed to death at a grocery store during an alleged fight with four other girls, all of whom were younger than she was, police said. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at a grocery store in Lake Charles, Louisiana, when a fight took place between a 15-year-old girl and four other females all between the ages of 12 and 14, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) said in a statement on social media. The cause and the motive of the altercation is currently unknown and was not disclosed in the CPSO statement but authorities did confirm that, during the incident, the 15-year-old girl was stabbed and the victim was subsequently transported to a local area hospital where she died.
President Joe Biden has commissioned Dr. Kevin O’Connor as his new White House physician, replacing Dr. Sean Conley in a role that became a source of controversy under former President Donald Trump’s four years in the White House. It's not unusual for a new president to select their personal physician for their term, However, O'Connor will take on the job in the medical unit that faced a crisis of credibility under Trump following rosy readouts of physicals and misleading information about his COVID-19 treatment. O’Connor has served as Biden’s primary care physician since 2009, when he was appointed physician to the vice president and was chosen by Biden for the new role due to their long history, and personal relationship, according to a White House official.
President Joe Biden is set to sign a "Made in America" executive order Monday, fulfilling a long-time campaign promise to increase the amount of federal spending that goes to American companies. The federal government spends about $600 billion on contracting per year, and there are already rules in place governing how taxpayer dollars can be spent, how much foreign products can be purchased, and how many foreign components can be brought to the U.S. and assembled here. Biden’s executive order will aim to close those loopholes and cut down on the waivers, as well as order an increase in domestic content.

The controversial ban was announced by former President Donald Trump in 2017 through a tweet and reversed the Obama administration's policy to allow open service by transgender people. The license of a Nashville attorney has been suspended for four years after he posted advice on how to get away with murder. The advice was given in 2017 in response to a post by a Facebook friend who described a "tumultuous" breakup with her child's father and inquired about the legality of carrying a gun in her car, according to court documents filed in the Supreme Court of Tennessee on Friday. Attorney Winston Bradshaw Sitton reportedly wrote that if the woman wanted to kill her ex-boyfriend, she should "lure" him into her home and "claim" he broke in with intent to do her harm and she feared for her life, according to the Tennessee Supreme Court judgment.
Five people are dead following a mass shooting in Indianapolis Sunday morning, police said. One of the people killed was pregnant – the woman's unborn child was also killed. A boy, who suffered a gunshot wound, was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
