The weather is heating up around the country, and it is important to remember to protect your skin.
"It's best not to rely on one method of sun protection. A combination approach with sunblock, wide-brim hats, UV protective sunglasses and sun-protective clothing are ideal," Dr. Mark Abdelmalek, a board-certified dermatologist, Mohs surgeon at Dermatology of Philadelphia and an ABC News medical contributor, told "Good Morning America."
While you should be applying sunscreen, clothing with ultraviolet protection factor can be a great addition to your sun-protection routine.
"Sun-protective clothing acts as a kind of shield, preventing the sun's rays from reaching the skin. Sun-protective clothing block many of the sun's damaging UVA and UVB rays," Abdelmalek added.
