When "Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts wed longtime partner Amber Laign on Friday, dozens of members of her "GMA" family were there to celebrate their love.

Roberts' fellow "GMA" co-anchors Michael Strahan and George Stephanopoulos joined Ginger Zee, Lara Spencer, David Muir, Eva Pilgrim, DeMarco Morgan, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, Whit Johnson, Janai Norman, Gio Benitez and more at the newlyweds' enchanted garden-themed wedding reception.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday challenged Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, to participate in two 2024 presidential debates. The former president responded that he's "ready and willing" to debate Biden. Biden announced through his campaign that he is bucking the decades-old tradition of fall meetings organized by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates -- and instead called on Trump to join him for two televised presidential debates in June and September organized by news organizations.

Senate considers making Black Wall Street a national monument
More than 100 years after the nation's deadliest race massacre, the Senate is considering a bipartisan bill to grant national monument status to Greenwood, Oklahoma, also known as "Black Wall Street." In 1921, Black Wall Street was burned to ashes by white mobs who attacked the then-thriving and predominantly Black neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The state of Oklahoma originally recorded 36 deaths from the massacre; however, a 2001 state commission reported that the number killed was likely as high as 300 people.

Drug overdose deaths fell in 2023, 1st decrease in 5 years: CDC
Drug overdose deaths fell in 2023, marking the first decrease in five years, new provisional federal data published Wednesday showed. An estimated 107,543 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2023, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics. This is a 3% decrease from the estimated 111,029 overdose deaths that occurred in 2022 and the first annual decrease in drug overdose deaths since 2018.

Family hopes for miracle after 10-year-old boy swept away in storm drain
Asher Sullivan, a fourth-grade student, was playing outside and helping family and neighbors clean up storm debris in their neighborhood in Christiana, around 45 miles southeast of Nashville, on May 8, when the accident happened, according to James Evans, chief communications officer for Rutherford County Schools, where Asher's father, James "Jimmy" Sullivan, serves as director of schools. Since then, Asher's father and his mother, Kaycee Sullivan, have not left Asher's side at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is being treated, according to Evans. Jimmy Sullivan, who has led Rutherford County Schools, a district with over 50,000 students, for two years, has continued to share daily updates on Facebook about Asher's status, noting that the family is praying for a miracle.

Red Lobster closes multiple locations as company prepares to file for bankruptcy
Red Lobster has abruptly closed at least 99 locations across the country with restaurants shutting their doors in at least 27 states. Tagex Brands, a company that handles restaurant liquidation auctions, told ABC News that Red Lobster recently contacted them to auction off items from 52 locations that will be closing. The popular seafood restaurant chain began eyeing Chapter 11 to consolidate debts last month.

Consumer prices rose 3.4% in April compared to a year ago, slowing slightly from the previous month and offering a welcome sign for the Federal Reserve in its yearslong inflation fight. Recalcitrant prices forced the Fed to postpone highly anticipated interest rate cuts, leaving borrowing rates high for everything from credit cards to mortgages. Price increases have slowed significantly from a peak of about 9%, but inflation still stands more than a percentage point higher than the Federal Reserve's target rate of 2%.

US to send additional $2 billion in Ukraine aid, Blinken says
The United States will provide an additional $2 billion in aid to Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday during a press conference in Kyiv with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. The foreign military financing will be used not only for purchasing weapons from the U.S., but also by Ukraine as it invests in manufacturing its own machinery and weapons, Blinken said.

Actress Angie Harmon is opening up for the first time after her family dog, Oliver, was shot and killed by a driver for an Instacart delivery at her North Carolina home. Harmon said she put in a grocery delivery order through Instacart in late April to prepare for her family's Easter Sunday celebration. "It looked like we were talking to a middle-aged, slightly older woman named Merle who was talking to me and talking to me about my order," Harmon said.

House GOP pushes bill to force Biden to continue weapons transfers to Israel
Fallout continues on Capitol Hill over President Joe Biden's pause of a bomb shipment to Israel, and his warning the U.S. won't supply weapons that could be used in an invasion of Rafah, a city in southern Gaza where more than a million civilians have sought shelter. The House plans to vote this week on a Republican-led bill that would force the Biden administration to continue the transfer of certain weapons to Israel and would condemn Biden's decision to hold back some American-made heavy bombs to Israel. The measure, titled the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, urges the "expeditious delivery" of defense articles and services to Israel and would withhold funds for certain administration officials like secretary of defense and secretary of state until such articles are delivered.

The U.S. Supreme Court's celebrated ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, ending racial segregation in America's public schools, turns 70 this week, and the anniversary is being marked as a major advance for civil rights. A direct response to the decision ripped them from the profession, especially the Black men who were educators in the pre-Brown era, according to education experts who spoke with ABC News. "In [white] massive resistance to the Brown decision, we see the roots of the Black male educator shortage, not just teacher shortage -- but educator shortage," Dr. Leslie T. Fenwick, author of "Jim Crow's Pink Slip: The Untold Story of Black Principal and Teacher Leadership" told ABC News.

A school principal has been arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment of a child under 13 years of age after allegedly physically attacking and detaining a student against their will for over an hour, police said. “During the investigation, surveillance footage from the classroom was obtained, revealing Prophet preventing the child from leaving the room for over 40 minutes,” authorities said.

Air Force pilot dies after aircraft ejection seat goes off while on the ground
An Air Force instructor pilot has died after the ejection seat on his aircraft activated while the plane was operating on the ground, officials said. The incident occurred on Monday at Sheppard Air Force Base near Wichita Falls, Texas, when Capt. John Robertson of the 80th Operations Support Squadron was in a T-6A Texan II aircraft during ground operations and he was suddenly ejected from the plane, causing him severe injuries, according to a statement from Sheppard Air Force Base released on Tuesday describing the incident.

Eight teenagers got "acutely ill" and were transported to the hospital after ingesting marijuana edibles during a field trip to the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles, authorities said. An on-site security officer found the sickened male and female students and called 911 around 2:30 p.m. PT Tuesday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. "LAFD Paramedics arrived quickly to determine each had an altered level of consciousness, following their reported ingestion of cannabis edibles," LAFD said in a statement.
