‘Rooftopping’ Photographer Tom Ryaboi’s Death-Defying Shots

When photographer Tom Ryaboi thinks about taking his next picture, he thinks about how high, how adventurous and how far-flung he can go.  Ryaboi, 29, is a “rooftopper,” a photographer who climbs roofs in the world’s biggest cities and “enjoys the view.”  “Rooftoppers are treating their urban environment as a place full of wonder and adventure,” Ryaboi said.  “Roofs, subway tunnels, abandoned buildings, active buildings, and bridges are some of the greatest spaces in our cities, yet few of us have ever seen them.” Ryaboi has scaled skyscrapers in his hometown of Toronto, almost been run off a roof by “urban falcons protecting their nest,” and is currently in Hong Kong for what he calls his “dream shoot.”  Click through to see some of Ryaboi’s favorite and most thrilling photographs.
