Revealed: Kiefer Sutherland's new thriller 'Designated Survivor'

Kiefer Sutherland is making a return to primetime TV with a brand new series for ABC, "Designated Survivor."

The show's newly released trailer reveals that the "24" star plays the role of Tom Kirkman, a cabinet member who becomes president of the United States by default when Washington is catastrophically attacked.

Additional cast members include Natascha McElhone, Maggie Q and Kal Penn. The series was created by David Guggenheim.

The defense ministry released a statement late Sunday saying that a fire in a weapons depot in the barracks caused the explosion of high-caliber ammunition, the AP reported.
