Before sentencing, the Probation Department will be charged with preparing a pre-sentence investigation, or a probation report, for Merchan, which will include interviewing Trump.

Twenty-three years ago, F-16 fighter pilot Marc Sasseville was sent on a mission that he thought could be his last. Marian Robinson, former First Lady Michelle Obama's mother, died on Friday at the age of 86, according to the family. Michelle Troconis, who was convicted of helping her boyfriend, Fotis Dulos, cover up the murder of his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos, was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison, with execution suspended after 14 1/2 years, as well as five years of probation. Troconis' lawyer said they will appeal. The largest stegosaurus fossil ever found is heading to auction next month with an estimated value of up to $6 million. Police officials in Lakeland, Florida are reviewing an incident in which officers punched and tased a teenager after he allegedly trespassed at an apartment complex pool and refused to leave when police ordered him to do so. Lakeland police charged the 16-year-old boy with misdemeanor trespassing and two felony counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by ABC News. Christopher McKee, one of the two arresting officers in the May 26 incident, stated in a police report that he was responding to a 911 call from the apartment complex management complaining that several people were at the apartment pool who weren't allowed to be there because they weren't tenants.
Orange production in two top growing regions has been plagued by diseased fruit and bad weather, a combination that's prompted all-time high prices and left juice makers to consider other citrus varietals to supplement in the widely consumed breakfast beverage. Along the citrus belt of São Paulo and Minas Gerais in Brazil, both factors have impacted orange production, significantly reducing overall crop yields, according to the latest forecast from Fundecitrus, the Fund for Citrus Protection. The institution reported that Brazil, the world's largest producer and exporter of orange juice, was set to produce 232.4 million boxes of oranges in the 2024 to 2025 season, a 24% decline from the same time last year.
Nearly a year after five people died aboard the OceanGate "Titan" submersible while on a deep-sea voyage to the site of the Titanic, a billionaire has announced plans to go to the infamous wreck. Entrepreneur and real estate investor Larry Connor said this week that he and Triton Submarines CEO Patrick Lahey are planning their own deep-sea expedition in a submersible. Cases of whooping cough are on the rise across the United States, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows. There have been at least 4,864 whooping cough cases reported this year. This is nearly three times higher than the 1,746 cases reported at the same time last year.
