Apollo 8 astronaut William Anders has died at 90 years old, NASA administrator Bill Nelson said on Friday. The Apollo 8 crew was composed of Commander Frank Borman, Lunar Module Pilot Anders and Command Module Pilot James Lovell.

3 swimmers attacked by sharks off Florida panhandle
Three swimmers, including two teens, were attacked by sharks in two separate incidents while they were at beaches in Walton County, Florida, on Friday, the authorities said. A 45-year-old woman was swimming just past a sandbar with her husband at Watersound Beach when she was bitten by a shark around 1:20 p.m., South Walton Fire District Chief Ryan Crawford told reporters. Around 90 minutes later near Seacrest Beach, which is just four miles from Watersound Beach, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl were with a group of friends near the first sandbar in waist-deep water when they were injured by a shark, according to Crawford.

Transgender student alleges assault after using bathroom, family calls for charges
A transgender student is speaking out along with their family after allegedly being assaulted while using the bathroom in their Minnetonka, Minnesota, high school. Cobalt Sovereign, 17, told ABC News they were using the men's bathroom around 2:30 p.m. local time when a male student started peering over the stall while they were using the facility. In the hallway, Sovereign said they were followed by the student and two others.

The first lady's commitment to attending the trial was evident as she flew back late Thursday from France, where she accompanied President Joe Biden to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, to attend Friday's court hearings before flying back overseas to attend a state dinner being hosted by the French prime minister on Saturday.

Nike released new "Girl Dad" sneakers ahead of Father's Day, in honor of the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his late daughter Gianna "Gigi" Bryant, both of whom died in a helicopter crash in January 2020. The athletic apparel company's new Kobe 4 Protro "special edition" sneakers were released late Thursday and by Friday, had already sold out, according to a product page on Nike's official website. 9 members of Congress parachute jump over Normandy for D-Day anniversary
A group of American lawmakers honored the bravery of World War II veterans who took part in D-Day with a parachute jump into Normandy on Friday morning, using some of the same vintage planes that flew American paratroopers over France 80 years ago. The lawmakers are all military veterans, and were led by Reps. Jason Crow, D-Colo., and Michael Waltz, R-Fla. The other participants included: Reps. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, Rich McCormick, R-Ga., Mark Green, R-Tenn., Cory Mills, R-Fla., Darrell Issa, R-Calif. and Keith Self, R-Texas. Crow, an Army Ranger who served in two units that played key roles in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, said the jump was a "very personal experience."

NYPD officer arrested for allegedly shooting man in apparent road rage incident
A New York City police officer has been arrested for allegedly shooting another driver in an apparent road rage incident, prosecutors said. Officer Hieu Tran, 27, was taken into custody at the New York City Police Department on Thursday in connection with last month's shooting in Voorhees Township, New Jersey, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said. Tran allegedly shot a 30-year old-man on the night of May 17, and the victim remains in the hospital, prosecutors said Friday.

Justice Clarence Thomas has formally disclosed for the first time trips to Bali, Indonesia and the elite Bohemian Grove club in California -- both paid for by his friend and billionaire Harlan Crow -- that were at the center of an explosive ProPublica report last year exposing the unreported financial ties to a GOP benefactor. Thomas acknowledged in his latest annual financial report, released Friday, that he had "inadvertently omitted" reimbursement for food and lodging expenses for the July 2019 travel. Thomas reported no travel or reimbursements for 2023.

When a South Asian mom began skateboarding in her 40s to spend more time with her kids, she didn't know how much she would fall in love with the sport. Oorbee Roy of Toronto, Ontario, who picked up skateboarding at 43, has been sharing her journey on social media to encourage others to pursue their passion regardless of age. Roy told "GMA" her first introduction to the sport began when she met her husband who at the time was already a skateboarder.

Abortion-rights ballot measures are leading in the polls
Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, voters in Michigan, Ohio, California and Vermont have approved measures enshrining abortion rights in their state constitutions. This year, abortion is on the ballot again in at least four states, and early polling indicates strong support for these measures in red, blue and purple states alike. In Florida, voters will decide whether to adopt Amendment 4, which would establish a constitutional right to abortion up to fetal viability, overturning the state's current six-week abortion ban.

Two former top Trump aides pleaded not guilty in Maricopa County court Friday morning for their alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona. Mark Meadows, former President Donald Trump's former chief of staff, and Mike Roman, who was Trump’s director of Election Day operations, appeared virtually in court and entered a plea of not guilty on nine felony charges that include fraud, forgery and conspiracy. Both Meadows and Roman were charged in a similar case in Georgia to which they also pleaded not guilty.

US military pier to deliver humanitarian aid repaired, reconnected to Gaza beach
After being out of commission for almost two weeks, the U.S. military's temporary pier has been repaired and was reattached to a beach in Gaza on Friday morning with humanitarian aid deliveries expected to resume "in the coming days," said a top U.S. military official. The Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS) system had operated for little more than a week before high seas damaged the pier forcing extensive repairs that ended the U.S. goal of providing an additional route for food and humanitarian aid into Gaza. "I'm very pleased to announce that earlier this morning in Gaza, U.S. forces successfully attached the temporary pier to the Gaza beach," Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, the deputy of U.S. Central Command, told reporters on Friday.

17-year-old fatally shot while trying to break up a fight outside Seattle high school: Police
A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed when he apparently tried to break up a fight outside his Seattle high school, according to authorities. The teen was shot multiple times in the Garfield High School parking lot at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, and he died later on Thursday at a hospital, Seattle police said. The incident began as an altercation "between some high school-aged students," Seattle police Deputy Chief Eric Barden told reporters Thursday.

Cream cheese recall expanded as Tillamook recalls cheese slices sold at Costco
Dairy lovers should check the refrigerator for cream cheese that was sold at Aldi or pre-sliced Tillamook cheese sold at Costco which have both been recalled independently and pulled from shelves. On June 1, the Oregon-based dairy co-op alerted Costco members who had purchased its twin-pack of Tillamook cheese slices because the company said it "identified a very small quantity of gray and black plastic pieces" that may be present in a limited quantity of its Monterey Jack Cheese.
