A 16-year-old boy is being hailed as a hero after he helped rescue four people when a car drove off a boat launch and into a Mississippi river. The incident happened early Sunday, when the car, which had three teenage girls inside, drove into the Pascagoula River in Moss Point, traveled about 20 feet away from shore and started sinking, Biloxi, Mississippi, ABC affiliate WLOX reported. Corion Evans, 16, said he immediately ran over, took off his shoes and shirt and went into the water when he saw the car sinking and heard the three occupants shouting for help.
Former White House counsel Pat Cipollone has reached a deal with the House's Jan. 6 committee to testify in a transcribed interview on Friday, according to sources familiar with the matter. The committee had issued a subpoena to Cipollone last week after talks to have him testify publicly were not successful. Cipollone was one of the few aides with former President Donald Trump on the day of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and has significant insight into events before, leading up to and after the insurrection.
A verdict has been reached in the trial of Eric Holder, who is charged with fatally shooting rapper Nipsey Hussle. Holder was indicted on one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The reading of the verdict will take place at 10:30 a.m. local time Wednesday at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles.

The 21-year-old man accused of opening fire at a suburban Chicago Fourth of July parade, killing seven people and injuring dozens of others, plotted another attack in Madison, Wisconsin, authorities said Wednesday. After fleeing the scene of the parade, Robert "Bobby" Crimo III "was driving around, saw a celebration in Madison," and "contemplated another attack," with "60 rounds on his body at that point," authorities said at a news conference Wednesday. After returning from Wisconsin, Crimo was apprehended at at traffic stop in Lake Forrest, Illinois, Monday evening.

Carlos Santana collapsed onstage during a July 5 concert at Pine Knob Music Theatre, an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, located about 40 miles northwest of Detroit, Michigan. A father from Alabama is counting his blessings after his twin sons' quick thinking helped save his life last month. Brad Hassig was doing underwater meditation exercises at his home swimming pool, something he said he'd done numerous times before. A gunman opened fire on a Fourth of July parade in an affluent suburb north of Chicago on Monday, killing at least seven people and injuring more than three dozen others, including children. Quintin Lamarr first began having thoughts of suicide when he was around 16 years old. Now 26 and an advocate and volunteer with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Lamarr told ABC News that about a year and a half of those suicidal thoughts culminated in a mental health crisis that led to his hospitalization. The suicide rate among Black youth has been increasing along with the number of suicide attempts and the severity of those attempts, according to the most recent Youth Risk Behavior Survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, released in 2019.
