Britain's royal family has grown in size by one. Princess Eugenie, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, has welcomed her second child, a boy, Buckingham Palace confirmed Monday. "Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank," the palace said in a statement.

Noom joins Weight Watchers in offering medications like Wegovy for weight loss: What to know
As the popularity of drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic used for weight loss continues to rise, another weight loss-focused company is jumping into the market. Noom, an app that helps people track their eating and exercise habits, will now offer prescriptions through a new telehealth platform known as Noom Med. The company said Noom Med will be available to people who meet certain requirements -- such as a BMI of 30 or higher -- and who are members of Noom Weight, its $42 per month program that offers psychological tips to help with weight loss.

A group of senators are warning top officials at Twitter that actions taken since the takeover by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk threaten the social media platform's data security and privacy, according to a letter made public on Monday. Mass layoffs, lax internal privacy reviews and the hasty revamp of the platform's subscription service may have undermined the company's commitment to data protection, four Democratic senators have alleged. The letter, dated Friday, appears to have been sent soon after the reported resignation last week of two top executives in charge of data privacy: Head of trust and safety Ella Irwin and head of brand safety and ad quality A.J. Brown.

Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the unsolved 2005 disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway, will likely be extradited to the United States on Thursday night, according to a National Penitentiary Institute of Peru spokesperson. Van der Sloot left the Challapalca prison in Peru on Saturday to be transferred to another prison in Lima, where he's awaiting his extradition to the U.S. The Dutch citizen has been serving a 28-year sentence in Peru for the 2010 murder of 21-year-old college student Stephany Flores.

NTSB launches crash investigation after F-16s scrambled near capital
Federal officials have launched an investigation into how an unresponsive Cessna aircraft flew into restricted airspace in Washington, D.C., triggering the launch of fighter jets. The National Transportation Safety Board said late Sunday it had begun an investigation into the crash. A loud sonic boom could be heard throughout the D.C. region on Sunday after two F-16s launched from nearby Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to investigate, military officials said.

Ukrainian counteroffensive 'shaping-up' amid attempts to destabilize Russian forces
Well-trained, well-equipped Ukrainian combat forces are now in "assembly areas," close enough to front line areas, meaning they could launch a concerted attack on Russian positions in a relatively short time period, according to Western officials. In the meantime, Ukraine has already increased its offensive operations, both within its own borders and in Russia and beyond, in order to attempt to create more favorable conditions ahead of a much-anticipated counteroffensive. Unconfirmed reports indicated on Monday that Ukrainian offensive actions in certain areas of the front lines were increasing.

A Tennessee woman allegedly paid to hire a hitman to kill the wife of a man she met on a dating site, according to a criminal complaint. Melody Sasser was arrested May 18 and is being held in custody on probable cause that she allegedly attempted murder for hire. Sasser and the man she met on Match.com had become hiking friends, according to the complaint.

Sonic boom: F-16s investigate unresponsive plane in restricted airspace over DC
D.C. Air National Guard F-16s were scrambled on Sunday from Maryland -- causing a sonic boom heard throughout large portions of Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area -- to investigate what the North American Aerospace Defense Command called an "unresponsive" Cessna business jet that had entered a restricted area over the nation's capital and ultimately crashed into a forest area of southwest Virginia. "In coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, NORAD F-16 fighter aircraft responded to an unresponsive Cessna 560 Citation V aircraft over Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia on June 4, 2023," a statement from NORAD's Continental U.S. Region said.

At least 200 people have been killed and hundreds more injured in a train accident in India, as the death toll continues to rise, officials said. The crash occurred Friday night in Odisha, a state in eastern India, and involved three trains, according to Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena. Several cars of a passenger train derailed in the incident, he said.

Vivek Ramaswamy, the youngest 2024 Republican presidential candidate and self-proclaimed political outsider, on Sunday made his "America first" pitch for the White House while defending his view that the U.S. must force "major concessions" from Ukraine in order to end Russia's invasion and allow a sharper focus on facing China. "The job of the U.S. president is to look after American interests," he told ABC "This Week" co-anchor Martha Raddatz, arguing that militarily backing Ukraine's continued resistance to Russia's invasion is a less compelling goal than dealing with Beijing. Ramaswamy's position on Ukraine and Russia puts him in the minority among politicians, with leading Republicans and Democrats saying Russia's invasion must not be successful in order to preserve stability in Europe.

The body of one of the missing residents still thought to be inside of a partially collapsed apartment building in Iowa has been found, officials told ABC News. Branden Colvin, 42, was found on Saturday -- a week after the building in downtown Davenport, Iowa, collapsed, Sarah Ott, chief strategy officer for the City of Davenport, confirmed to ABC News. Ryan Hitchcock, 51, and Daniel Prien, 60, remain missing.

More than a dozen migrants transported to California via private plane, state officials say
More than a dozen migrants were dropped off on the doorstep of a California church after being transported to the state via private plane, according to state officials. The migrants were dropped off at the Diocese of Sacramento on Saturday "with no prior arrangement or care in place" and in possession of documentation purporting to be from the government of the State of Florida, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement. The group had been transported from Texas to New Mexico before being flown by private chartered jet to Sacramento, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement.

US must 'stand strong' in face of 'unbelievable aggression from China': Turner
Rep. Mike Turner, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, on Sunday lambasted what he called increased military hostility by China and insisted the U.S. "stand strong" after recent close calls near American ships and planes and the suspected spy balloon that was shot down off the East Coast. "What we're seeing is an unbelievable aggression by China," Turner, R-Ohio, told ABC "This Week" co-anchor Martha Raddatz. "If you look at the balloon that flew over the United States, the Chinese police stations, the aggressiveness against our both planes and ships and international water, it goes right to the heart of what President Xi [Jinping] said when he stood next to [President Vladimir] Putin in Russia where he said they are trying to make change that has not happened in 100 years."

In the second major provocation by China's military in the span of a week, a Chinese warship carried out what the U.S. military called "an unsafe maritime interaction" when it crossed an American warship's bow at a distance of 150 yards forcing the U.S. Navy destroyer to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision. Top Indian wrestling stars protest culture of sexual harassment in Indian wrestling
India’s top wrestling athletes -- Olympians and world champions alike -- have taken to the streets in protest of allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chief, President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The athletes accuse the WFI chief, 66, of sexual harassment over the span of more than a decades and have been staging protests in New Delhi -- which have slowly intensified -- since April 23. At least seven athletes -- including a minor -- have filed official complaints against Singh who has denied allegations, saying they are “politically motivated” and asserting that he is “ready to hang [him]self” if found guilty.

As Pride Month kicks off, the continuing anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and legislation that has grown over the past several years is on the minds of many people, and event organizers across the country say they have prepared for this and have implemented security protocols that ensure performers and attendees can have fun without fear. Cameron Jay Harrelson, the parade director for Georgia's Athens Pride, said that hosting such events in the deep South has always made organizers “hyper aware and hyper-focused” on safety. “That feels a little more heavy this year with the attacks that we've seen in legislation, in politics across the country,” Harrelson said.
