The nonprofit Women's Health Center of West Virginia, located in Charleston, faced the immediate risk of prosecution under a state abortion ban from 1882, so Quinonez and a coworker made 60 calls to patients canceling procedures scheduled for the ensuing three weeks, said Quinonez. Not only did the Supreme Court decision stop the clinic from providing abortions, but it delivered a crushing blow to the nonprofit health center's financial stability, Quinonez said.

Dakari Miranda, who will turn 2 this fall, took his first steps this month, less than eight months after undergoing an hours-long surgery to have most of his right leg amputated. Dakari was born without a tibia, or shinbone, in his right leg, a rare condition known as tibial hemimelia.
A man was killed during a youth football game in Lancaster, Texas, Saturday night after an argument escalated into a shooting, according to police. Witnesses told Lancaster police that the coaching staff and officials had gotten into a disagreement that became physical, leading to the shooting. Lancaster police said they're searching for Yaqub Salik Talib, the brother of former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The fourth grader had been saving money to take her family to a game at Minute Maid Park to see her favorite player, Jose Altuve. "We wanted them to be treated like royalty," Astros Foundation Executive Director Paula Harris told ABC News when describing what the team has dubbed "Uvalde Strong Day." The foundation gave away thousands of tickets and sent buses to pick up 500 Uvalde residents, who either were directly affected by or responded to the tragedy, to shuttle them to Houston.
Police in Texas have arrested a 17-year-old suspect in the murder of Yolanda N'Gaojia, officials said in a press release. In addition to murder, Weston was charged with the unlicensed carrying of a weapon, and that bond was set at $5,000. Police said when they responded to the scene at Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories Cemetery in March, they found two people with gunshot wounds.

Actor Alec Baldwin shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Western, which he was producing and starring in, last year. The actor believed he was handling a "cold gun" -- one without live ammunition -- when it went off and a live bullet struck Hutchins, killing her.
Eight people, including at least five Americans, were wounded when a gunman opened fire on a bus in Jerusalem early Sunday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said. "Last night, a terrorist shot at a bus in Jerusalem wounding eight people, including a pregnant 30-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man who are in critical care," the ministry said on Twitter. At least five U.S. citizens were injured in the attack, a U.S. Embassy spokesperson confirmed to ABC News.
U.S. Capitol Police said in an initial, brief statement that a man exited his vehicle after crashing it around 4 a.m., after which the vehicle "became engulfed in flames." Late Sunday afternoon, police identified the man as 29-year old Richard A. York III, of Delaware, and said his next of kin had been notified. Nobody else was injured in the incident and York did not seem to be targeting members of Congress, which is in recess, the police said in their first statement.
A 24-year-old man was being held without bail on Sunday after police alleged he deliberately drove a car into a crowd at a Pennsylvania fundraiser, killing a woman and injuring 17 people, before allegedly hitting his mother and bludgeoning her to death with a hammer in a neighboring town. Pennsylvania State Police identified the suspect early Sunday as Adrian Oswaldo Sura Reyes after he was arraigned in court on two counts of criminal homicide. A motive in the two unrelated fatal incidents is under investigation.

At least 41 people were killed after a huge fire erupted at a church in Cairo during morning prayers on Sunday, health authorities and the Coptic Orthodox Church said. Egypt's health ministry said 14 people were also taken to hospitals for treatment after being injured in the blaze, which engulfed the Coptic Orthodox Church of Abou Seifain in the working-class district of Imbaba, which is in the greater Cairo province of Giza.. The fire erupted at 9 a.m. Cairo time. The interior ministry, which oversees the Civil Protection Authority, said the fire "broke out in an air-conditioner on the second floor of the church building, which includes a number of classrooms, as a result of an electrical fault."
