Security guard shot outside Drake's Toronto mansion: Police
A security guard working at Drake's mansion in Toronto was shot while outside the residence early Tuesday, police said. The male security guard was shot while standing outside the gate of the residence at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to Inspector Paul Krawczyk with the Toronto Police Service's Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force. The security guard was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and remains hospitalized in serious condition, Krawczyk said.

TikTok sues federal government over potential US ban
TikTok and its Chinese parent company ByteDance filed a lawsuit against the federal government Tuesday over its potential ban of the social media platform in the United States. In the lawsuit, TikTok and ByteDance claim the law signed by President Joe Biden last month that would force the company to sell the platform to a non-Chinese company in nine to 12 months or face a ban in the U.S. violates users' First Amendment rights. Biden signed the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which was part of a massive foreign aid package passed by Congress, on April 24.

President Joe Biden delivered a major speech denouncing antisemitism on Tuesday at the U.S. Capitol. The remarks are part of a U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum ceremony marking the Days of Remembrance to honor the memory of the six million Jews killed during the Holocaust as well as other victims of Nazi persecution. Growing up in Louisiana, in the bayous of the Mississippi River, identical twins Jocynita "Jo" Banner and Joyceia "Joy" Banner always heard stories from their grandmother Grace, who would tell them about their enslaved ancestors and their history of fighting back at the very plantation the two women now own. "I know that she is really proud," Jo Banner said, referring to her grandmother. The Banner twins are the founders of The Descendants Project, a nonprofit that fights for historic and cultural preservation for descendants of enslaved people.

Delphi double murder trial pushed back to October a week before scheduled start
The double murder trial of Richard Allen -- accused of killing two teenage girls in Delphi, Indiana, in 2017 -- has been delayed several months, less than a week before jury selection was to begin. In a pretrial motions hearing Tuesday morning, defense attorneys for Allen withdrew their motion for a speedy trial, citing concerns over having enough time to present their case. The Seattle-based coffee chain is out with three new beverages: a Summer-Berry Starbucks Refreshers Beverage, a Summer-Berry Lemonade Starbucks Refreshers Beverage and a Summer Skies Drink, all of which feature a sweet and bright blend of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry combined with water, lemonade or coconut milk and poured over a layer of raspberry flavored pearls -- similar to the tapioca beads in Taiwanese bubble tea. 17 tornadoes reported in 7 states across the Plains
At least 17 tornadoes were reported in seven states overnight into Tuesday morning. The twisters were reported in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and South Dakota. The most destructive storm appeared to have been in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, north of Tulsa, where major damage was reported.

2 Ukrainians detained for allegedly plotting Zelenskyy assassination with Russia, Ukraine says
Two colonels in Ukraine's State Protection Service were identified as part of a group planning to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday. The colonels, who have been detained but not yet been publicly identified, were recruited by the Russian Federal Security Service, known as the FSB, Ukraine said. "Their mission involved identifying military personnel within Zelenskyy's security detail capable of abducting and assassinating him," Ukraine's State Protection Service, or SBU, said.

Jacque Berry and her daughter, Breanna Berry, are Black women who say they have been surrounded by cancer all their lives. "My great-grandmother had breast cancer," Breanna Berry, 30, told "Good Morning America." "I remember when I was like 10 and she'd say, 'Sweetie, go get me some tissue to stuff in my bra.' Years later, Breanna Berry said she watched as a friend, also a Black woman, was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 28, and as her father died after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, a diagnosis she said took over one year as his symptoms were misdiagnosed.

Man who lived with mother charged with her murder after police find body in bathtub
Jeremy Gentry, a 48-year-old man from Fruitland, Maryland, has been charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment after Beatrice Kay Gentry, 68, was found dead inside their home on the 200 block of Sand Castle Boulevard, according to the Maryland State Police. Police were first alerted to the incident shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday when the Fruitland Police Department and emergency medical service personnel were dispatched to the residence on regarding a report of “an unconscious woman,” according to the Maryland State Police. The deceased was subsequently identified as Beatrice Kay Gentry who shared the home with her son, Jeremy Gentry, police said.

A series of bomb threats targeting annual Pride events in Montana were deemed to be hoaxes “used to try to dissuade people from participating” in the LGBTQ+ celebrations, police say. Two threats were made on Saturday and Sunday when the Bozeman Police Department investigated two bomb threats that “occurred within the city limits of Bozeman,” according to a statement from the Bozeman Police Department. Two other similar bomb threats were received by authorities on Friday.
