Johnny Wactor's family speaks out after 'General Hospital' star fatally shot: 'They took a wonderful person'
The family of Johnny Wactor is remembering the former "General Hospital" star who was fatally shot. Wactor died Saturday after being shot when he interrupted three male suspects who were allegedly attempting to remove a catalytic converter from his vehicle around 3:25 a.m. PT, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities say the suspects fled the scene, and Wactor was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at the age of 37.

T-Mobile to acquire U.S. Cellular in $4 billion deal
T-Mobile, one of the nation's largest wireless providers, announced on Tuesday that it will acquire most of U.S. Cellular in a $4.4 billion deal. The agreement would grant T-Mobile an additional 4 million customers, hundreds of brick-and-mortar stores and wider reach in rural areas. The move would also expand T-Mobile’s spectrum rights, a valuable federal license that allows firms to transmit mobile signals.

At least 134 people have been killed and another 979 have been wounded since May 10 as fighting intensifies between Sudan's military and a powerful Sudanese paramilitary force in a major city of the country's northwestern Darfur region, according to an international aid group. Doctors Without Borders, also known by its French acronym MSF, said Sunday that the casualties were all recorded at a single hospital in el-Fasher, the provincial capital of Sudan’s North Darfur state.

The criminal hush money trial against former President Donald Trump is drawing to a close, with deliberations expected to begin as early as Wednesday. The charging -- or as it's also known, instructing -- of the jury is a standard procedural step in any jury trial, during which the judge advises jurors on how they should go about reaching their verdict. Jurors are instructed on how to apply these guidelines to the evidence presented during trial -- which in this case, includes the testimony of 20 witnesses and over 250 exhibits -- to determine whether the prosecution has proven their case against the defendant.

Company that posted discriminatory 'whites only' job ad settles with federal government
A company that posted a discriminatory job advertisement seeking only white candidates has been fined by the federal government and come to separate agreements with the U.S. Department of Justice and Department of Labor as punishment, according to officials. Arthur Grand Technologies, an information technology services firm based in Virginia posted a discriminatory job advertisement in March 2023 that restricted eligible candidates to “only US Born Citizens [white] who are local within 60 miles from Dallas, TX [Don’t share with candidates],” according to a statement from the United States Department of Justice released on Thursday. “An investigation by OFCCP (Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs) determined that, in April 2023, Arthur Grand Technologies advertised an opening for a business analyst position with its sales and insurance claims team in Dallas on a public online hiring website,” the Department of Justice said in their statement.

Thirty-six days ago, prosecutors with the Manhattan district attorney's office set out to convince a jury of twelve New Yorkers that Donald Trump broke the law by hiding damaging information from voters. During closing arguments Tuesday, they'll attempt to convince that jury to convict the former president on 34 felony counts -- a historic decision in what could be the only one of Trump's criminal cases that reaches a verdict before the 2024 election. Prosecutors built their case across four weeks of testimony, calling 20 witnesses including Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress whose hush money payment sits at the center of the case; Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer who made the payment to Daniels just days ahead of the 2016 election; and multiple Trump Organization employees who helped orchestrate Cohen's alleged reimbursement in 2017.

"General Hospital" actor Johnny Wactor, who was known for playing Brando Corbin in the beloved ABC soap opera, died after being shot on Saturday. Wactor was shot after he interrupted three male suspects who were allegedly attempting to remove a catalytic converter from his vehicle, his mother, Scarlett Wactor, told Los Angeles ABC station KABC. The incident happened around 3:25 am PT on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

2 inmates on the run after escaping Louisiana jail, police say
Police in Louisiana said Monday they caught two of the four inmates who escaped from jail over the weekend, unbeknownst to the guards who were supposed to be watching them. Omarion Hookfin, 19; Avery Guidry, 19; Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, and Travon Johnson, 21, who were all incarcerated at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, escaped through a weak portion of the jail's chain-linked fence on Saturday and Sunday, Chief Jimmy Travis of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office told reporters during a news conference Monday. The jail's officials did not know about the breakouts until they received a phone call Sunday afternoon from a family member of one of the escapees, Travis said.

1 in 9 US children now have ADHD, with surge in diagnoses since 2016: CDC
Diagnoses of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have surged in the United States over the last several years, according to a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The study, which examined data from more than 45,000 parent responses to the 2022 National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH), found that in 2022, 7 million children between ages 3 and 17 had previously been diagnosed with ADHD, an increase of 1 million from 2016. This equates to about 1 in 9 U.S. children being diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives.
