Since a violent mob of President Donald Trump's supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol last week, U.S. officials have repeatedly warned that like-minded domestic terrorists could strike again when President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in as commander-in-chief next week. "Since the incident at the U.S. Capitol, Russian, Iranian, and Chinese influence actors have seized the opportunity to amplify narratives in furtherance of their policy interest amid the presidential transition," the threat assessment noted, citing at least once instance in which a Russian "proxy" promoted claims the rioters at the Capitol last week were actually members of the radical left-wing antifa movement who "disguised themselves" as Trump supporters.
Retired military servicemen are turning up in alarming numbers on wanted posters and in charging documents as federal agents continue their sweep of arrests tied to the deadly riot at the Capitol last week, a trend that has experts increasingly concerned about the dangerous allure of extremist and paramilitary groups. On Thursday, FBI Director Chris Wray said the bureau has made over 100 arrests in connection with the riot, with many more anticipated. "The large number of individuals with ties to law enforcement or the military already arrested or apparently now under investigation suggests a deeper level of far-right sympathizers in these fields," said Javed Ali, a former senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council.

After a mob of President Donald Trump's supporters held a siege on the U.S. Capitol and Trump was subsequently impeached for inciting an insurrection, former FBI Director James Comey expressed concern about the general intelligence briefings Trump may be entitled to receiving after his term ends. "The View" co-host Ana Navarro told Comey on Friday's show that she was bothered by the possibility that, once he leaves office, Trump could divulge sensitive information to people who aren't authorized to receive it or sell information to foreign adversaries, like Russia's Vladimir Putin or North Korea's Kim Jong Un. Navarro asked Comey to detail the kinds of briefings Trump might receive after President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20.
