For the second time in as many years, Republican Rep. Nancy Mace has defeated a fierce GOP primary challenge in South Carolina’s 1st congressional district. With 27% of the vote reporting as of 8:40 p.m ET., the Associated Press projects Mace will win South Carolina’s 1st district with an outright majority of more than 57%.

The 16-time winner of the contest, including every year since 2016, will not be competing at this year's contest, according to Major League Eating. On Tuesday evening, Chestnut took to X to share his frustration over being "banned" from the event and claimed he learned about the decision with the rest of the world. "I was gutted to learn from the media that after 19 years Im banned from the Nathan's July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest," Chestnut wrote, adding, "I love competing in that event, I love celebrating America with my fans all over this great country on the 4th and I have been training to defend my title."

8 Tajikistanis with suspected ties to ISIS detained in US, source says
Eight individuals from Tajikistan with suspected ties to ISIS, who crossed into the United States from the southern border last year and this year, have been detained in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and New York City, according to a source familiar with the investigation. The suspects were initially allowed to enter the U.S. after being vetted and no national security issues were uncovered, the source said. "Over the last few days, ICE agents arrested several non-citizens pursuant to immigration authorities," the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.

1 dead after bus hijacked at gunpoint in Georgia; suspect in custody: Police
One person was fatally shot in connection with a bus hijacking that prompted a police chase through two Georgia counties on Tuesday, authorities said. The incident began at approximately 4:35 p.m. ET in downtown Atlanta, when police responded to a report of gunfire on a Gwinnett County Transit bus and a "possible hostage situation," the Atlanta Police Department said. "Upon the officers' arrival at the scene, the bus fled the location, and a pursuit ensued," the Atlanta Police Department said in a press release.

Clark, the No. 1 pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft and the highest scoring player in NCAA Division I women's basketball history, was noticeably absent from the Olympic roster that was officially announced on Tuesday and included WNBA stars like Diana Taurasi, Kelsey Plum, Brittney Griner and Sabrina Ionescu.

A fight sparked a shooting that injured three people in a food court at a downtown Atlanta shopping center on Tuesday afternoon, according to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. A Delaware woman who was on the jury told ABC News that the case was "a waste of taxpayers' dollars," but in the end, she and her fellow jurors were able to come together with little disagreement. The 51-year-old juror, who asked not to be identified, said Hunter Biden needed help for his addictions but did not need to receive any prison time for his convictions. It took the jury less than a day to come to their decision to convict Hunter Biden of two counts related to false statements in purchasing the firearm and a count of illegally obtaining a firearm while addicted to drugs.

A federal judge has called Florida policies restricting gender-affirming care for minors and adults "unconstitutional," blocking the state's policies from being enforced. "Transgender opponents are of course free to hold their beliefs," Judge Robert L. Hinkle said in the 105-page decision on Florida's SB 254 and similar Boards of Medicine rules. "But they are not free to discriminate against transgender individuals just for being transgender."
