An Austin, Texas-based sports reporter has gone viral for her honest and raw on-air broadcast during the Texas winter storms. KVUE's Emily Giangreco usually covers sports for the ABC station but turned to weather coverage during the devastating deep freeze that shook the Lone Star State last week. Like many in Texas, Giangreco, 27, also was without power or water for much of her week as the state experienced massive blackouts due to the extreme weather.

Monahan's retirement as NYPD chief of department is expected to prompt another shakeup of top officials, including the elevation of Rodney Harrison from chief of detectives to chief of department. Monahan joined the NYPD in 1982 and was named chief of department in January 2018.

Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, is speaking out to tell his side of the story, via his lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, regarding his daughter's conservatorship in an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America." The conservatorship, established in 2008, has put Jamie in control of Britney's financial affairs for the past 13 years, as well as her personal affairs up until 2019. New data now reveals that the same racial and ethnic disparities which have affected adults throughout the pandemic, also extend to children of color. Black and Latino children have been affected by more illness and death than other children, during the pandemic. More than 3.1 million children have tested positive for coronavirus since the onset of the pandemic, accounting for approximately 13.1% of all cases in states reporting cases by age, according to a weekly report from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association.
Nearly 60 years ago, Calvin Tyler was forced to drop out of college in his hometown of Baltimore because he couldn't afford tuition. Now he and his wife, Tina, have pledged $20 million to endow scholarships for students needing financial aid at the historically Black school. "Morgan is so proud to call this son and daughter of the great City of Baltimore our own, and through their historic giving, the doors of higher education will most certainly be kept open for generations of aspiring leaders whose financial shortfalls may have kept them from realizing their academic dreams," David Wilson, president of Morgan State University, said in a statement Monday.

The 369th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed the Harlem Hellfighters, were the first African American regiment to serve with the American Expeditionary Force in World War I. Their accomplishments and heroism stood in stark contrast to the racism and discrimination they faced on the home front. In 1916, New York Gov. Charles Whitman formed the 15th New York (Colored) National Guard Regiment, which became the 369th Infantry Regiment after the U.S. entered World War I. The majority of the men were from Harlem -- in their ranks were hotel porters, mailmen and doormen. The men were the first Black soldiers in New York's National Guard.

Kristyn Watkins got her first menstrual cycle when she was 10 years old and then suffered from what she describes as debilitating, heavy periods for nearly the next three decades. Watkins said her mother had experienced the same complications, as had Watkins's grandmother, whom she said underwent a hysterectomy at age 32 because of her excessive bleeding. Watkins lived with her heavy periods -- which would often force her to stay home or stay near a restroom -- without knowing any better or having any relief until the age of 33, when she gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Georgia.
