Former President Trump on Monday opposed an attempt by his former fixer Michael Cohen to dismiss a lawsuit that accused Cohen of breaching his fiduciary duty to Trump "by spreading falsehoods" about his ex-boss. "Despite Cohen's arguments to the contrary, the Complaint alleges that Cohen was conferred substantial benefits during his representation of the Plaintiff and utilized such benefits for purposes of obtaining selfish, financial profit at the expense of Plaintiff," Trump's attorney Alejandro Britto said in a statement. Trump accused Cohen of "egregious breaches of fiduciary duty and contract" in connection with the publication of books and the production of a podcast that "are intended to be embarrassing or detrimental" to Trump.
Tricia Bryan, 34, of Conyers, Georgia, has struggled with her weight her entire life, but when she was pregnant with her son, now 2, she gained around 100 pounds. Because she was a high-risk pregnancy, Bryan said she was induced at 39 weeks and gave birth to her son via an emergency C-section. Around one week after delivery, when Bryan was home with her son recovering, she developed a severe pain in her abdomen.
Deja Taylor was accused on Monday of unlawful use of marijuana in possession of a handgun and making a false statement about her drug use during the purchase of the firearm, both of which are felonies, federal prosecutors said. Taylor's attorney, James Ellenson, told ABC News later Monday that she will enter a guilty plea within days. Zwerner, 25, sustained a gunshot wound through her hand and into her chest on Jan. 6 when the student brought a gun into her classroom at Richneck and intentionally shot and wounded her, police have said.
The devastating wildfire emergency continues across a large swath of Canada, with numerous large fires burning out of control, from British Columbia to Newfoundland and Labrador as of Monday afternoon. A decade after the New York Police Department’s stop-and-frisk tactic was deemed unconstitutional, the police are still unlawfully stopping and searching many people, particularly men of color, according to a new report issued Monday by a court-appointed monitor. The monitor, Mylan Denerstein, faulted certain units of the NYPD’s Neighborhood Safety Teams (NST), which are meant to combat gun violence in high-crime areas. New York City Mayor Eric Adams revived NSTs after he took office.
It was only 15 minutes after a Cessna 560 Citation civilian jet took off from an airport in northeastern Tennessee on Sunday that the aircraft, bound for New York, stopped responding to air traffic controllers, the Federal Aviation Administration said on Monday -- as new details emerged about an unusual episode in the skies over the nation's capital. About 80 minutes after takeoff, the Cessna, having apparently been unresponsive to the outside world for more than an hour, made it to the intended destination on Long Island, flight tracking software shows. Until then, the Cessna had been following its flight path and was being tracked on radar by the FAA, even despite the lack of communication.
The Portland Police Bureau in Oregon took a strong stance against “online rumors” Sunday, shutting down theories of a potential serial killer after the deaths of six women under the age of 40 within the last three months. “While any premature death is concerning…PPB has no reason to believe these six cases are connected,” the law enforcement agency wrote in a press release. Officers with the PPB first found human remains in Multnomah County, Oregon, in February, later determining that the remains belonged to Kristin Smith, 22, who was reported missing on Dec. 22, according to the PPB.

For the past 23 years, identical twin sisters Rebecca Lawrence and Christina Keefer have shared a birthday, and now their children will too. Prince Harry will break royal precedent once again when he testifies this week in court, becoming the first British royal to do so in more than a century. New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu announced Monday that he will not run for president -- in order to keep the field of Republican candidates less crowded so Donald Trump is less likely to be the party's nominee in 2024. Sununu explained his decision in a CNN interview and a Washington Post column. Ultimately, the fourth-term governor felt confident he could be a real contender in the 2024 race but felt it was more important to focus on Trump's defeat.
Neither former President Trump nor Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg object to Judge Alvin Hellerstein presiding over a matter related to Trump's criminal prosecution, the two sides indicated Monday in separate letters to the court. Hellerstein revealed last week that he had once performed legal work for a Trump entity in the 1990s while in private practice but said he did not believe that would affect his impartiality. "The People believe that the circumstances identified by the Court do not present any appearance of impropriety, reason to question the Court’s impartiality, or other basis for recusal," assistant district attorney Matthew Colangelo wrote.

Noom, an app that helps people track their eating and exercise habits, will now offer prescriptions through a new telehealth platform known as Noom Med. The company said Noom Med will be available to people who meet certain requirements -- such as a BMI of 30 or higher -- and who are members of Noom Weight, its $42 per month program that offers psychological tips to help with weight loss.
A group of senators are warning top officials at Twitter that actions taken since the takeover by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk threaten the social media platform's data security and privacy, according to a letter made public on Monday. Mass layoffs, lax internal privacy reviews and the hasty revamp of the platform's subscription service may have undermined the company's commitment to data protection, four Democratic senators have alleged. The letter, dated Friday, appears to have been sent soon after the reported resignation last week of two top executives in charge of data privacy: Head of trust and safety Ella Irwin and head of brand safety and ad quality A.J. Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the unsolved 2005 disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway, will likely be extradited to the United States on Thursday night, according to a National Penitentiary Institute of Peru spokesperson. Van der Sloot left the Challapalca prison in Peru on Saturday to be transferred to another prison in Lima, where he's awaiting his extradition to the U.S. The Dutch citizen has been serving a 28-year sentence in Peru for the 2010 murder of 21-year-old college student Stephany Flores.
