As the Israel-Hamas war crosses the seven-month mark, negotiations are apparently stalled to secure the release of hostages taken by the terrorist organization, and Israeli forces continue to launch incursions in the southern Gazan town of Rafah ahead of a possible large-scale invasion. A video showing Israeli hostage Alexsander Trufanov, who was captured by Hamas on Oct. 7, was publicly released by the Hostage Families Forum on Tuesday. "The proof of life from Alexsander (Sasha) Trufanov is additional evidence that the Israeli government must give a significant mandate to the negotiating team, which will be able to lead to a deal for the return of all the hostages - the living to rehabilitation and the murdered to burial," the Hostage Families Forum said in the release with the video.
The Democratic National Committee will move to conduct virtual proceedings to certify President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominees before Ohio's Aug. 7 ballot certification deadline, and before their in-person convention beginning Aug. 19, the party confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday. This could take a significant moment away from Biden and the Democratic party as the official nomination at convention is historically met with fanfare and celebration, but Biden will become the official nominee virtually, perhaps without the typical pomp and circumstance. The campaign said that while there will be a virtual roll call and nomination of Biden and Harris, the DNC will still hold in-person ceremonial events for each process at their convention during the week of Aug. 19 in Chicago.
The most active spring in the U.S. for severe weather in 13 years continued Tuesday with wind gusts of more than 70 mph and thunderstorms prompting new tornado warnings in Texas after twisters tore through the Great Plains and Midwest over the Memorial Day weekend, killing 22 people and and cutting miles-long paths of destruction. Dangerous weather whipped up again in central Texas early Tuesday, causing the National Weather Service to issue a shelter-in-place warning to residents of Fort Worth, where 77 mph wind gusts were reported in the area just before 6 a.m. CT. Severe weather Tuesday included large-sized hail and wind gusts of over 80 mph in Dallas County, Texas, where there is a possibility of tornadoes developing throughout the day and into Tuesday night, officials said.
The flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza over the U.S. Army's temporary Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) system has been paused after rough seas Tuesday caused parts of the pier to detach requiring repairs that will take it out of operation for at least a week, the Pentagon said on Tuesday. "Due to high sea states in the North African weather system earlier today, a portion of the Trident pier separated from the pier that is currently anchored into the coast of Gaza," Sabrina Singh, the Pentagon's deputy press secretary, told reporters.

As Ohio lawmakers convened on Tuesday for a special session to address President Joe Biden's ability to appear on their general election ballot in November, the Democratic National Committee said it would move to conduct virtual party proceedings to certify Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominees -- a move that works around Ohio's ballot certification deadline. Ohio's Senate Republicans ultimately passed a bill that would both allow Biden to appear on their general election ballot in November, but also bar foreign contributions to ballot issue campaigns.

The federal judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's classified documents case denied the special counsel’s motion requesting that Trump be barred from making statements that could pose a significant risk to law enforcement. Trump's lawyers argued that the special counsel violated Local Rule 88.9, which says both parties must "meet and confer" before filing motions so the court and the parties' time is used efficiently. In a filing Monday, Trump's lawyers asked Cannon to strike the special counsel's request and impose sanctions on any prosecutors involved in filing their motion.
