Kentucky sheriff's office welcomes 15 babies in the last year
The Boone County Sheriff's Office in Burlington, Kentucky, is experiencing a baby boom, with 15 babies born to staffers in the last year. The Kentucky law enforcement agency shared a photo celebrating the new generation of families in a Facebook post April 30, which is quickly going viral with over 2,000 likes. Photographer Kyla Scudder with Kyla Mae Photography volunteered to take the photo of the deputies, sergeants and supervisors holding their babies as a thank you for their service.

Ahead of the upcoming election in November, the popular ride-sharing service Lyft announced a partnership that its CEO said he hopes continues the company's mission to bring more people -- especially younger voters -- to the polls. Lyft CEO David Risher told ABC News in an interview that ahead of the upcoming election, he wanted to increase the company's footprint when it comes to increasing voter turnout. Can dogs help predict when earthquakes occur? The company behind the PetPace biometric collar says the health data it tracks may also have the capability of forecasting earthquakes. Airbnb is offering customers an opportunity to stay in famous homes and places such as a re-creation of the "Up" house from Pixar's 2009 animated movie. Two days after Judge Juan Merchan held Trump in criminal contempt for nine violations of the limited gag order that prohibits statements about witnesses and others involved in the case, the judge is holding a hearing Thursday to determine whether to hold Trump in contempt again and fine him $4,000 for making four additional out-of-court statements about the jury and known witnesses in the trial.

What to know as China attempts to be 1st country to return samples from far side of the moon
China is set to launch the first-ever mission, known as Chang'e 6, on Friday to collect rock and soil samples from the far side of the moon. The lunar lander is scheduled to launch by rocket at 3:50 a.m. ET from the China National Space Administration's (CNSA) Wenchang Satellite Launch Center on the island of Hainan, located to the south of China, according to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.

6 people, including 3-year-old, shot at Fort Worth apartment complex
At least six people ranging between the ages of 3 to 19-years-old have been shot at an apartment complex in Fort Worth, Texas, police say. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. when the Fort Worth Police Department received a call and responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Las Vegas Trail in the western part of the city, according to a statement from the Forth Worth Police Department early Thursday morning. Officers immediately assisted in providing medical attention with the help of the Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar, authorities said.

US maternal mortality rates fell in 2022 after 3 years of increases: CDC
Maternal mortality rates in the United States fell in 2022 after at least three years of continuous increases, new federal data shows. In 2022, 817 women in the U.S. died of maternal causes with a rate of 22.3 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births, according to the report published early Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics. This is a drop from the 1,205 women that died in 2021 with a rate of 32.9 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births.

Authorities arrest suspect in killing of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca
The Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Xavier L. Tate Jr. into custody on suspicion of the murder of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca. Tate Jr. was found Wednesday night in the Chicago suburb of Glendale Heights, Illinois, police said. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said Huesca's death was the result of "an act of unconscionable gun violence in our city."

Dan Schneider sues 'Quiet on Set' producers for defamation, calls series a 'hit job'
Dan Schneider filed a defamation lawsuit on Wednesday against the creators of the "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV" docuseries. Attorneys for the former television creator, who is featured in the docuseries, which was released in March about what allegedly went on behind the scenes at Nickelodeon in its heyday, has claimed that the filmmakers behind the series "falsely state or imply that Schneider" "sexually abused the children who worked on his television shows." A 14-year-old suspect is dead following a confrontation with police Wednesday after an active shooter was reported outside a Wisconsin middle school, sources told ABC News. The suspect was a male student in the Mount Horeb Area School District, according to Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul.

Arizona Senate passes repeal of 1864 abortion ban, sending it to governor's desk
The Arizona Senate on Wednesday voted to repeal a strict, Civil War-era abortion ban that was recently ruled enforceable by the state Supreme Court. Two Republican senators, T.J. Shope and Shawnna Bolick, joined the 14 Democrats in the minority and the bill passed 16-14, over vocal GOP objection. Ahead of her vote, Bolick took a broadly anti-abortion position on the floor -- explaining in detail the three difficult pregnancies she had herself, including the story of her own miscarriage -- but she voted with Democrats, suggesting the repeal of the stricter ban might weaken support for a Democratic-led ballot initiative in November to broaden abortion access further.
