Former President Donald Trump is on trial in New York City, where he is facing felony charges related to a 2016 hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump last April pleaded not guilty to a 34-count indictment charging him with falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment his then-attorney Michael Cohen made to Daniels in order to boost his electoral prospects in the 2016 presidential election. Defense attorney Susan Necheles asked Stormy Daniels a line of questions about what details Daniels included and omitted from her 2018 book, based on some of what she said today court.

The White House expects the Kerem Shalom crossing to reopen on Wednesday, but are working to move up that timeline to get vital humanitarian assistance into northern Gaza even sooner. “Israel has committed to reopening the Kerem Shalom,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told ABC News.

2 Ukrainians detained for allegedly plotting Zelenskyy assassination with Russia, Ukraine says
Two colonels in Ukraine's State Protection Service were identified as part of a group planning to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday. The colonels, who have been detained but not yet been publicly identified, were recruited by the Russian Federal Security Service, known as the FSB, Ukraine said. "Their mission involved identifying military personnel within Zelenskyy's security detail capable of abducting and assassinating him," Ukraine's State Protection Service, or SBU, said.

19 tornadoes reported in 7 states across the Plains
At least 19 tornadoes were reported in seven states overnight into Tuesday, as the tornado threat continues Wednesday for parts of the country. The twisters were reported in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Tennessee. One of the hardest-hit areas in the storm was Barnsdall and Bartlesville, Oklahoma, north of Tulsa.

June Carter Clark and Johnny Cash Davis, this time for a fun photoshoot with their little ones. According to photographer Chantel Miller, the moms even took the time to take a road trip from Alabama to Tennessee over the weekend for the photoshoot in Miller's Knoxville studio. Miller told "Good Morning America" they had all connected after she, a self-described "huge Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash fan" saw a news story about the two families and left a comment on a social media post about it.

Biden administration pauses ammunition shipments to Israel, US officials say
The Biden administration is delaying shipments of ammunition expected to be sent to Israel, three U.S. officials told ABC News on Tuesday in what appears to be the first time since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks that the U.S. has withheld weapons from its ally. According to one U.S. official, the U.S. Air Force has been told by the White House National Security Council to pause shipments of ammunition that were already approved and under contract, waiting to be shipped from Dover Air Force Base.

Katy Perry was unable to attend the2024 Met Gala, but this was news to her mother, who was fooled by photos partly generated by using artificial intelligence that circulated online of the pop star. Perry shared an Instagram post Monday that included the AI-edited photos of her at the annual star-studded benefit, as well as a screenshot of a confused text message from her mother. The two fabricated images of Perry showed the singer wearing outfits fashioned to the theme of the Met Gala "The Garden of Time."

Biden condemns 'ferocious surge' in antisemitism during Holocaust remembrance ceremony
President Joe Biden denounced what he called a "ferocious surge" of antisemitism in America and the atrocities committed by Hamas during its Oct. 7 attack on Israel in a speech at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday. "Never again simply translated for me means never forget," Biden said before a crowd of Holocaust survivors, Jewish Americans and lawmakers gathered in Emancipation Hall. "Here we are not 75 years later but just seven and a half months later, and people are already forgetting," Biden said.

5 people arrested after surge of suspected drug overdoses in Austin: Police
Five people have been arrested after dozens of people overdosed in Austin last week, leading to nine suspected deaths. The Austin Police Department said Marcellus Barron, 30; Denise Horton, 47; Gary Lewis, 50; Ronnie Mims, 45; and Kanady Rimjo, 32, were arrested and charged with possession or delivery of a controlled substance, according to local ABC News affiliate KVUE. Police said they located the suspects by investigating the source of the narcotics used in the recent overdoses, KVUE reported.

Every year, between 200 and 400 infants and children waiting for heart transplants are faced with a grueling option as they wait for a transplant, getting a surgically-implanted mechanical heart pump weighing up to 200 pounds with garden-hose sized tubing attached to their bodies, potentially for weeks or months until they receive a heart transplant.

Ahead of her meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shared her list of demands for the speaker amid her push to oust him from the House's top job. Greene's four requests -- which she said were "simple and easy for Mike Johnson to follow" in a post on X -- include a return to the "Hastert Rule," which means no legislation is brought to a vote without the support of the majority of the majority party; no more funding for Ukraine; defund the special counsel's probe into former President Donald Trump; and avoid a government shutdown before the election by passing a continuing resolution to automatically enact a 1% spending cut. "These are not unreasonable requests," Greene said of her demands as she headed in to her Tuesday meeting with Johnson.

4 children injured in Gaza amid Israel-Hamas war arrive in US for medical treatment
Four Palestinian children who were injured or fell ill amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war have arrived in the United States to receive medical treatment, according to an aid organization. The children, three boys and one girl between ages 3 and 11, were evacuated to Egypt and then flown to the U.S., arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday morning to receive life-saving medical care at hospitals in New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas. Nearly 15,000 children in Gaza have been killed and thousands more have been injured since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

TikTok sues federal government over potential US ban
TikTok and its Chinese parent company ByteDance filed a lawsuit against the federal government Tuesday over what it called an "unconstitutional" potential ban of the social media platform in the United States. In the lawsuit, TikTok and ByteDance claim the law signed by President Joe Biden last month -- which would force the company to sell the platform to a non-Chinese company in nine to 12 months or face a ban in the U.S. -- violates users' First Amendment rights. "For the first time in history, Congress has enacted a law that subjects a single, named speech platform to a permanent, nationwide ban, and bars every American from participating in a unique online community with more than 1 billion people worldwide," the company said in its 65-page petition filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Security guard shot outside Drake's Toronto mansion: Police
A security guard working at Drake's mansion in Toronto was shot while outside the residence early Tuesday, police said. The male security guard was shot while standing outside the gate of the residence at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to Inspector Paul Krawczyk with the Toronto Police Service's Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force. The security guard was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and remains hospitalized in serious condition, Krawczyk said.

Growing up in Louisiana, in the bayous of the Mississippi River, identical twins Jocynita "Jo" Banner and Joyceia "Joy" Banner always heard stories from their grandmother Grace, who would tell them about their enslaved ancestors and their history of fighting back at the very plantation the two women now own. "I know that she is really proud," Jo Banner said, referring to her grandmother. The Banner twins are the founders of The Descendants Project, a nonprofit that fights for historic and cultural preservation for descendants of enslaved people.

Delphi double murder trial pushed back to October a week before scheduled start
The double murder trial of Richard Allen -- accused of killing two teenage girls in Delphi, Indiana, in 2017 -- has been delayed several months, less than a week before jury selection was to begin. In a pretrial motions hearing Tuesday morning, defense attorneys for Allen withdrew their motion for a speedy trial, citing concerns over having enough time to present their case. On Feb. 13, 2017, best friends Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, were enjoying a day off from school in their hometown of Delphi, a quiet, small town of nearly 3,000 residents in central Indiana.

The decision to call Daniels, who acted in adult films, as a witness allows the jury to hear from the woman at the center of former President Donald Trump's criminal trial. Prosecutors argue that Trump -- still reeling from the release of the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape in October 2016 -- orchestrated a last-minute $130,000 hush money payment through his then-lawyer Michael Cohen in exchange for Daniels' silence about an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump, which the former president has denied took place.
