Dwyane Wade shared a heartfelt post about sending his son off to school this week.
The former NBA's star's 18-year-old son Zaire is heading to Brewster Academy, a private boarding school in New Hampshire, for a postgraduate year. The young basketball player graduated from Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California, earlier this year.
"Dropping your oldest off to school is another set of emotions that I didn’t know existed," Dwyane Wade wrote alongside a family photo. "I’m a proud father!"
"My goal as a parent is to raise kids who know their worth and that are better than I could ever be," he added, before listing the ways in which his son has impressed him.
"From watching Zaire build a company with his friends the last two years, To watching him handle the hate that has been thrown at his sister Zaya and showing grown a-- men how to love unconditionally at 18 years old, To seeing how he’s been able to handle not seeing his parents interact or be in the same room together for most of his life and the list goes on and on. He’s already way ahead of me at 18."
Wade added that his son is "already built different" and expressed how enthusiastic he is about the young athlete's future.
"I’m excited for him to go on this journey of life as he becomes Zaire Wade!" he wrote. "Good Luck at Brewster Academy."
Zaire announced his plans to continue his education at Brewster Academy in April 2020. "Told em it’s another route , ima take the other way 🚶🏾♂️ #NextStep," he captioned his announcement.
His proud father reposted the announcement with the caption, "Embrace your path #brewsteracademy."
