Former President Donald Trump said in a social media post on Monday that the FBI seized his passports during an unprecedented raid of his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida last week. An official with the Department of Justice told ABC News that Trump's passports have been returned to his team. When asked for comment, an FBI spokesperson told ABC News: "In executing search warrants, the FBI follows search and seizure procedures ordered by courts, then returns items that do not need to be retained for law enforcement purposes."
As monkeypox continues to spread across the U.S., the number of children infected with the virus is growing as well. At least eight children have tested positive for monkeypox since July in multiple states, from Florida and Maine to California. Children under the age of 8 are among those whom the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers at "increased risk" for developing more severe illness if infected with monkeypox, along with pregnant people, people who are immunocompromised and those who have a history of atopic dermatitis or eczema.
An 88-year-old woman was killed in an apparent alligator attack in South Carolina on Monday, officials said. It appears the victim, Nancy Becker, was gardening near a pond in Sun City Hilton Head, an adult-only community, and slipped in, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Natural Resources. Responders found the gator "guarding" Becker, officials said.

During Monday night's school board meeting, Uvalde citizens demanded financial transparency regarding the millions of dollars in grants announced last week aimed at strengthening school security before children return to the classroom this September. The Trump Organization's longtime chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, is expected to plead guilty to tax charges as soon as this week, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News. Weisselberg, 75, is currently scheduled to go on trial in the fall, but a hearing in the case is now scheduled for this Thursday, in what could be a sign that he could change his plea then. A frozen food manufacturer issued a recall Sunday for more than 13,000 pounds of frozen meat pizza over possible contamination, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said. Home Run Inn Frozen Foods said the food products "may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal," the USDA said. The company discovered the problem after it received complaints from consumers, according to the USDA.
President Joe Biden plans to sign the Democrats' massive climate, health and tax bill into law on Tuesday at the White House, marking a major accomplishment for his domestic agenda less than three months before midterm elections. Biden will deliver remarks and sign the bill, known as the Inflation Reduction Act, at an event in the White House's State Dining Room, the White House announced Monday. The Justice Department said in a new court filing Monday that it opposes an effort by multiple media organizations, including ABC News, to unseal the supporting affidavit behind the now-public search warrant for former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. "There remain compelling reasons, including to protect the integrity of an ongoing law enforcement investigation that implicates national security, that support keeping the affidavit sealed," the filing states. In a footnote, department officials write that they "carefully considered" whether they could release the affidavit with redactions, but the redactions necessary to "mitigate harms to the integrity of the investigation would be so extensive as to render the remaining unsealed text devoid of meaningful content, and the release of such a redacted version would not serve any public interest."
Mark Warner, D-Va., and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., the chair and vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, respectively, have sent a private letter to top intelligence officials and the Justice Department asking for more information from last week's unprecedented FBI search at Mar-a-Lago. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event for Marguerite "Peg" Koller -- also known as "grandmom" to Christine Stokes Balster and her husband Patrick Balster -- who was "absolutely ecstatic" to greet baby Koller William Balster after his birth on Aug. 4. The suspect wanted in connection with the killing of a man at a youth football game near Dallas turned himself in to authorities on Monday, his lawyer told ABC News. Police had identified Yaqub Salik Talib, the brother of former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib, as a suspect in the fatal shooting. Witnesses told Lancaster police that the coaching staff and officials had gotten into a disagreement that became physical, leading to the shooting.
