Cherry Blossoms Reach Peak Bloom in Nation's Capital

Spring has officially sprung in our nation’s capital. Washington, D.C.’s celebrated cherry trees, a gift from Japan in 1912, have reached peak bloom, according to the National Park Service. The blossoms should remain in good shape for their many admiring onlookers for another week or two -- weather pending, of course. During this beautiful blooming period, annual cherry tree walks are offered around the Tidal Basin. The full-bloomed cherry blossoms come out just in time to celebrate the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which is takes place until April 14.
