Celebrity Adoption Craze

ImagesActress Charlize Theron is now the "proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson," according to a statement released to the Associated Press by her publicist. This is the first child for the 37 year-old who is single since her split from actor Stuart Townsend in 2010. No details were released on Jackson's adoption but one report said he was adopted from South Africa where Theron was raised.

Actress Kristin Davis, 47, is smitten with her biggest role yet: motherhood. The “Sex and the City” star became a mother to daughter Gemma Rose last August and said the seven months have flown by.

Davis adopted Gemma through a domestic agency, a process she admits she was wary about at first. “I had seen too many nighttime television shows about the drama [of domestic adoptions]. I was very nervous,” Davis told "GMA." “I had planned to do it internationally, but I realized the wait was three to five years and I just couldn’t wait that long. Here in our country we have kids in need and the foster system is not really a great option. Once I made the decision, it moved very quickly and I have a beautiful, healthy, baby girl.”

Sheryl Crow is one of many single celebrity moms. The singer has two adopted sons, Wyatt and Levi James. Crowe has said adopting is the best thing she's ever done. "For me, it has been the most incredible experience. I never knew how much love I would give and feel. If you're a woman with a big career and no husband, then you don't have to not have a family. Denise Richards adopted Eloise Joni, a little girl who is part African-American, part Hispanic and part white. Richards named her Eloise Joni, after Denise's mother, Joni Richards, who died of cancer almost four years ago.

After the adoption of baby Eloise over the summer, actress Denise Richards' brood comprised a trio of little girls, including big sisters (with ex-huband Charlie Sheen) Sam, 7, and Lola, 6, but it didn't come together easily. "Some people think if a celebrity wants a baby, they get one the next day," Richards revealed to Us Weekly. "The adoption took two years, and there were times I felt discouraged, times when I got close to adopting a baby and it fell through. But I knew the right baby would find us." Looks like she did!

Sandra Bullock adopted son, Louis Bardo Bullock, in 2010. "The Blind Side" actress, who was in the spotlight because of a very public break up with husband Jesse James, managed keep her newly-adopted son, a secret from the media.
