A 34-year-old Idaho man has been imprisoned for at least 30 years after "purposely" trying to spread HIV through sexual contact with both men and teenage boys, prosecutors say. This investigation began in August 2023 as a child enticement case, according to the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office in Idaho, when Alexander Louie initially began an online sexual conversation with who he believed was a 15-year-old boy but was actually an undercover Ada County Sheriff’s Detective.
Taylor, a 25-year-old woman from Maryland, was a freshman in high school when she received a message on Facebook asking if she had ever sent a nude photo. What followed next were thousands of messages, threats and demands for nude photos from the person on the other side of the computer, a person whose identity Taylor did not know. Now Taylor, who asked that her last name not be used to protect her privacy, says she is sharing her story of being a victim of sextortion in hopes of educating parents and kids and helping prevent what happened to her from happening to anyone else.
Jason Prado, a 24-year-old long distance runner, led for almost all of the 2 hours, 24 minutes and 54 seconds that he was on the 26.2 mile course of the Orange County Marathon in southern California on Saturday. The issue wasn’t the fact that he was drinking the water but rather when he accepted it. "During yesterday’s Hoag OC Marathon, we were forced to disqualify a participant after it was confirmed they received unauthorized assistance from an individual on a bicycle, in violation of USA Track & Field rules and our race regulations,” said Race Director Gary Kutschar in a statement obtained by ABC News.

The Biden administration opted to pause a shipment of some 3,500 bombs to Israel last week because of concerns the weapons could be used in Rafah where more than one million civilians are sheltering "with nowhere else to go," a senior administration official tells ABC News. Other weapon transfers from the U.S. to Israel -- including the sale of Joint Direct Attack Munition, or JDAM kits -- are being closely scrutinized as part of a larger review of U.S. military aid to Israel that began last April, the official said. The decision to pause the shipment and consider slow-walking others is a major shift in policy for the Biden administration and the first known case of the U.S. denying its close ally military aid since the Israel-Hamas war began.
Earth has just experienced its 11th straight warmest month on record -- a preview of the brutal temperatures forecast for the summer, according to scientists. Last month continued a relentless stretch of record-breaking global temperatures for the planet after it measured as the warmest April on record, according to a monthly climate report by Copernicus, Europe's climate change service, released on Tuesday. April 2024 saw an average surface air temperature of 15.03 degrees Celsius, or 59.05 degrees Fahrenheit, the report found.
Boeing's first astronaut-crewed flight into space has been called off due to a stuck valve on the spacecraft’s rocket Monday, the United Launch Alliance announced. The Starliner Crew Flight Test, developed in collaboration with NASA's Commercial Crew Program, was set to launch from Space Launch Complex-41 atop an Atlas V rocket at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 10:34 p.m. ET before it was called off. "ULA Launch Director Tom Heter III has made the decision to the launch team that launch operations will not continue tonight," the United Launch Alliance said in an update on X (formally Twitter) Monday evening.
For more than a month, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has dangled the possibility of forcing a vote to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson, and has been leading a public charge to try and make that a reality. "I think that all of my other Republican colleagues recognize this is a distraction from our mission," he said. The congresswoman sends a letter to her Republican colleagues explaining why she filed a motion to oust Johnson, calling his actions "a complete and total surrender."
The judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's classified documents case has now indefinitely postponed the trial date pending resolution of outstanding pretrial litigation, including disagreements about how the classified information is used during trial. It comes as Judge Aileen Cannon has continued to delay various deadlines in the case, making it all but certain the case doesn't go to trial before Election Day. "The Court also determines that finalization of a trial date at this juncture -- before resolution of the myriad and interconnected pre-trial and CIPA issues remaining and forthcoming -- would be imprudent and inconsistent with the Court’s duty to fully and fairly consider the various pending pre-trial motions before the Court, critical CIPA issues, and additional pretrial and trial preparations necessary to present this case to a jury," Cannon wrote in the new order.
Former President Donald Trump is on trial in New York City, where he is facing felony charges related to a 2016 hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump last April pleaded not guilty to a 34-count indictment charging him with falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment his then-attorney Michael Cohen made to Daniels in order to boost his electoral prospects in the 2016 presidential election. Former President Trump, on his way out of court, slammed the proceedings as "a disaster for the DA."

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene appeared on Tuesday to be backing off her threat to force a vote to oust Speaker Mike Johnson this week, though she signaled that she'll preserve her threat indefinitely -- keeping Johnson on a tight leash as he navigates a one-vote majority in the chamber. The development comes after Greene and Johnson met on Tuesday afternoon -- their second meeting in as many days. The meetings came after Greene said she would force a vote to remove Johnson from the leadership post this week.
Stormy Daniels took the stand in former President Donald Trump's hush money trial on Tuesday, describing for jurors the night she allegedly had sex with him. The adult film star, who testified pursuant to a subpoena, said she first met Trump at the Lake Tahoe Golf Tournament in 2006, when she was 27. Trump has repeatedly denied the alleged affair ever occurred.
As the Israel-Hamas war crosses the seven-month mark, renewed negotiations are underway to secure the release of hostages taken by the terrorist organization, as Israeli forces continue to prepare for an apparent invasion of the southern Gazan town of Rafah. The White House expects the Kerem Shalom crossing to reopen on Wednesday, but are working to move up that timeline to get vital humanitarian assistance into northern Gaza even sooner. “Israel has committed to reopening the Kerem Shalom,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told ABC News.
Two colonels in Ukraine's State Protection Service were identified as part of a group planning to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday. "Their mission involved identifying military personnel within Zelenskyy's security detail capable of abducting and assassinating him," Ukraine's State Protection Service, or SBU, said.

Katy Perry was unable to attend the2024 Met Gala, but this was news to her mother, who was fooled by photos partly generated by using artificial intelligence that circulated online of the pop star. Perry shared an Instagram post Monday that included the AI-edited photos of her at the annual star-studded benefit, as well as a screenshot of a confused text message from her mother. The two fabricated images of Perry showed the singer wearing outfits fashioned to the theme of the Met Gala "The Garden of Time."
