A 10-year-old boy who was swept into a storm drain while helping his family clean up storm debris has passed away, according to his father. The boy, Asher Sullivan, is still on life support so that his organs can be donated, his dad, Jimmy Sullivan, wrote in a Facebook post. Asher, a fourth-grade student, was playing outside and helping his family and neighbors clean up after severe weather in their neighborhood in Christiana, around 45 miles southeast of Nashville, on May 8, when the accident happened, according to James Evans, chief communications officer for Rutherford County Schools, where Asher's father serves as director of schools.

As emergency crews in three states began mopping up and assessing damage from a series of tornadoes on Sunday, more severe weather is being forecast for a large swath of the Midwest. More than 230 severe storms were reported on Sunday, including 13 twisters confirmed by the National Weather Service that struck in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. A large funnel cloud touched down Sunday in Yukon, Oklahoma, near Oklahoma City, causing major damage to several buildings and ripping the roof off at least one home.

Red Lobster has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to a recent press release shared with ABC News. The largest seafood chain in the U.S., home to Cheddar Bay biscuits, Lobsterfest, Ultimate Endless Shrimp and more, filed the legal action on May 19 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida, where it the Orlando-based restaurant group is headquartered. "The Company intends to use the proceedings to drive operational improvements, simplify the business through a reduction in locations, and pursue a sale of substantially all of its assets as a going concern," Red Lobster said in part of its bankrupty filing.

The cargo ship that struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore nearly two months ago was moved from the crash site for the first time on Monday morning. The Dali, a 984-foot container ship, had been partially blocking the entrance to one of America's busiest ports since the March 26 collision that triggered a catastrophic collapse of the 1.6-mile-long span and killed six workers. "Optimum conditions call for the transit of the DALI to commence at high tide, predicted to be Monday at 5:24 a.m.," officials said in a statement on Sunday.

"As the 2024 election cycle progresses, generative AI tools likely provide both domestic and foreign threat actors with enhanced opportunities for interference by aggravating emergent events, disrupting election processes, or attacking election infrastructure," the May 17 document said.

Quintuplets with different majors graduate from the same college
A set of quintuplets from New Jersey whose parents are Italian immigrants recently graduated from the same college together -- four years after missing their high school graduation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Povolo quintuplets -- Michael, Victoria, Ludovico, Ashley and Marcus are the first generation from their family to go to college and received their degrees from Montclair State University on May 13. US troops to leave Niger by mid-September: Officials
All of the remaining U.S. troops based in Niger will leave the country no later than mid-September, according to U.S. officials and a joint statement from the two countries. Both sides mutually agreed to a withdrawal deadline of September 15 after several days of meetings between May 15-19, according to a joint statement from the Pentagon and Niger's national defense department released Sunday. Fewer than a thousand troops remain in Niger.
