The objective of Omaha is to have the best 5-card poker hand using 2 of your hole cards and 3 of the community cards.
To start a game of Omaha, 2 players place forced bets known as blinds. There’s a small blind and a big blind. These bets kick off the pot.
Once the blinds are posted, the dealer distributes 4 private hole cards face-down to each player. These hole cards are the players' personal cards and are used along with the community cards to create the best possible 5-card poker hand.
After the hole cards are dealt, the first betting round begins with the player to the left of the big blind. This player can choose to fold, call (match the big blind) or raise. Betting then proceeds clockwise around the table.
After the initial betting, 3 community cards are dealt face-up onto the center of the table. These shared cards are called the flop.
Following the flop, there's another round of betting. It starts with the player to the left of the dealer button, and each player decides whether to fold, call or raise.
A fourth community card is dealt face-up beside the flop, and this card is the turn.
Yet another round of betting takes place after the turn, starting with the player to the left of the dealer button.
Then comes the river, which is the fifth and final community card. This card is placed face-up next to the turn.
The last round of betting happens after the river. It starts with the player to the left of the dealer button, and players choose to fold, call or raise one more time.
If there are still 2 or more players remaining after the final round of betting, it's time for the showdown. Players reveal their hole cards, and the best possible 5-card hand wins.
Players must use exactly 2 of their hole cards and 3 of the community cards to form their best hand.
