Five Card Draw is the the ultimate poker showdown. Draw your hand, outbet your opponents and seize victory with the best 5-card hand or a compelling bluff.

Nail the rules

The objective of Five Card Draw is to win the pot with the best 5-card hand and win the pot.

Each player receives 5 private cards dealt face down.

Players take turns clockwise and can do one of the following: Check: Pass their turn, if no bets are made. Bet: Place an initial wager. Fold: Discard their hand and give up bets. Call: Match the current bet. Raise: Raise the bet, which others must meet to stay in the hand.

Then, another round of betting takes place. If 2 or more players remain, a showdown happens: Players reveal their hands, and the best 5-card hand wins the pot.

Hand rankings show how strong a hand is compared to others. Here are standard hand rankings, from strongest to weakest:

  • Royal flush: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 of the same suit. This is the highest-ranking hand and includes Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 of hearts, spades, clubs or diamonds.
  • Straight flush: 5 consecutive cards of the same suit. For example, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 of hearts.
  • 4 of a kind: 4 cards of the same rank. For example, 4 Kings.
  • Full house: 3 cards of one rank and 2 cards of another rank. For example, 3 Jacks and two 8s.
  • Flush: 5 cards of the same suit, not in sequence. For example, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 of diamonds.
  • Straight: 5 consecutive cards of any suit. For example, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 of mixed suits.
  • 3 of a kind: 3 cards of the same rank. For example, 3 Queens.
  • 2 pair: 2 sets of 2 cards of the same rank. For example, two 10s and two 6s.
  • 1 pair: 2 cards of the same rank. For example, two 9s.
  • High card: When no other hand is made, the highest card in the hand determines the winner. For example, if no player has a pair, the player with the highest card (like an Ace or King) wins.
