Yes! Build-Your-Own Sushi Blocks

YES. It’s what we say to things that are awesome. Yes.

Japan really has the whole cute toy thing down. Consider this friggin’ adorable block set that looks like sushi. It helps toddlers develop their fine motor skills AND introduces them to the finest delicacies the Land of the Rising Sun has to offer. It’s a win-win scenario!

The set was offered by Japanese toy company Plaplax and it’s already completely sold out—which doesn’t really matter to you, because Plaplax doesn’t ship overseas. Womp, womp. But the mere existence of this gorgeous set proves that food-and-toy mashups are a brilliant idea, especially when they go beyond the traditional kitchen play set. Some stateside toy makers are clearly of the same mindset: New Orleans–themed food puzzles, anyone?

If you’re desperate for a sushi toy set, try this one from Land of Nod. It may not be a puzzle, but at least it can be delivered to your door.

Food education is important—especially when it encourages the exploration and acceptance of other cultures. And, of course, we are always down for playing with your food.
