Yahoo Food on the Road: A Week in Arizona

What’s in Arizona, other than arid expanses of forlorn desert? A lot, apparently. Last week, I was invited to explore some of the greener patches of Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, and surrounding areas, and I returned home pleasantly surprised. There are delicious, fresh things being brought forth from the dry, red soil of Arizona. I found other tasty treats along the way, too, and not just gorgeous greens but vibrant cakes and earthy pizzas.

Here are some of the most memorable stops on my trip, from an aeroponic farm to an artisanal bakery that spends 36 hours on each loaf. All photos by Rachel Tepper for Yahoo Food.
