What Your Favorite Chefs Look Like as Pancakes

You’ve seen these famous food figures on TV and magazines, but have you ever seen them on your plate?

Daniel Drake of Dancakes artfully designed pancake doppelgängers of some of the food world’s most recognizable faces for Eater. Watch him draw Guy Fieri, Andrew Zimmern, Julia Child, and Anthony Bourdain with colored batter over this time-lapse video. We don’t know what’s more impressive: how uncanny the resemblances are, or the fact that they’re actually edible.

Drake — nicknamed “Dr. Dan the Pancake Man” or, according to his website “The World’s First Pancake Artist” — is no stranger to online viral fame. His previous top hits include 151 Pokémon characters (in 3-minutes), The Avengers, The Beatles, the fallen Game of Thrones characters, and even the 2015 Academy Award winners.

The food artist, who hails from St. Louis, attracted attention when his work appeared in popular Reddit posts and up Buzzfeed lists, but his career truly took off after he made a guest appearance on the Today Show in 2013.

His motto is to “never turn down a request.” He even takes them through a form on his website, so maybe you’ll be able to see one of your suggestions take form. “If you wanna challenge me, do it,” he says on his website, “I challenge you to challenge me.”
