A Dreamy Look at Maine Oystering Life for the Cubicle Weary

We agree with everything Pemaquid Oyster Company co-owner Jeff “Smokey” McQueen says about oysters in this beautiful video.

“Oysters are talked about like wine is nowadays,” he says. “And Maine has started to develop a reputation for good quality oysters.”

With his two partners, who are both marine biologists, McQueen supplies local restaurants and markets with these briny bivalves. According to Pemaquid’s website, their oysters boast a “distinctive clean, salty and refreshing flavor.” But that’s not what the above video is about—it’s really a snapshot of Maine life on the water.

"There are times when you wish you had a desk job," McQueen admits, his voice running over shots of a cold, misty sky and choppy seas. "But I love being on the water. It’s a lifestyle.”
