The Ultimate Cast Iron Pizza Hack

For some, the best part of a homemade pizza is the gooey cheese. For others it’s the flavor-explosion created by the toppings. And for the rest of us, it’s crunchy crust waiting for you at the end of each slice.

This Buzzfeed pizza hack is for you, fellow crust lovers. This just-as-simple-as regular-homemade pizza hack creates a rich, crunchy crust you normally only get with a Chicago deep dish. Watch the video above to see just how simple it is.

Step 1: Add a bit of oil to the pan, and plop your dough in the center. Use the dough to spread the oil around, flipping the dough so both sides are coated in oil. Cover with plastic wrap and preheat your oven to 500°F.

Step 2: Once the oven is at 500°F, take the plastic wrap off, and reshape the dough to fill the bottom of the cast iron pan. Put into oven and bake for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Toppings! Cover the dough with sauce, and add your favorite toppings. Buzzfeed features red peppers, artichokes, basil, and pepperoni. Cover generously with shredded mozzarella. You can add a touch more sauce and some bigger pieces of fresh mozzarella if you really want to go crazy.

Step 4: Bake for 15 minutes. If you want your crust extra crispy, throw that pan onto the stove for 1 to 2 more minutes. And enjoy!
